Funny PCSX2 r5100 hang
See, i find this quite funny, i found a case where PCSX2 SVN reliably crashes on my system. Here's how to replicate it:

Open up in BIOS mode, wait until it comes up to the menu with the two choices. Now go to the PCSX2 window, click on System and then Shutdown. The program freezes and has to be terminated.

Overall i don't find it too important for a serious bug report, but i think i should let you guys know in a simple post. Enjoy. Tongue

Well, it happens to me every time i try it. Specifically it seems to happen at termination when it reaches the time to shut down the plugins. No message comes after that. More rarely it happens once it has closed it all and is 'idle'. Perhaps it's something only i am experiencing for some reason. If you think it might be important, tell me where to move the thread and i'll post more details.

The only things the console shows that seem of any interest are the following two which occur well before the bios menu is reached:

(IsoFS) Invalid partition descriptor encountered at block 0x10: ''
Gif Unit - GS packet size exceeded VU memory size!

It's likely a configuration related issue. You could try to use different plugins, mainly for sound and video, and see if that changes things.

Oh, indeed. I thought i had removed the hacks, but i guess i messed up when cleaning that place up and instead transferred them over.
Although i didn't see somewhere in the buildbot page a reference to shutdown issues. I guess this little problem is not too important for now then.

Yea cotton already knows about this (even though he is no longer a dev), It happens more often when you try to run homebrew with 'run elf' and the MTVU hack (easy way to reproduce the bug), when you close pcsx2 the process will hangup (the GUI will disappear so it appears closed) however the exe is still running and you need to forcibly kill it, or it crashs like you mentioned if you use the shutdown feature.

The bug doesn't seem to happen for everyone, making it harder to fix, its a minor bug though and it always keep me looking in task manger before I re-open pcsx2. Smile
(btw its not specific to r5100 it's been happening since the introduction of the mtvu hack)

Yes, i did notice later that a spare pcsx2.exe was left idling in task manager, which explains why at first the GUI just seemed to close without warning.

I don't see why you would look with a worried face at taskmanager, hoping there are no executable leftovers if you're not using MTVU and you're not pressing Shutdown before closing pcsx2 Tongue

R.I.P. cottonvibes by the way D:
