GSDX - DirectX 10 or DirectX 9?
#1
I was curious, which one should I use, DX9 or DX10? they both seam to work. Is one faster than the other, or is it only difference compatibility with different games?

If you don't observe compatibility problem with DX10 version, then you'll often get better performance with it.
Currently I use DX9 for FFX, because I don't like to see a line in the middle of the face of Yuna.

lol.. there's been quite a few of these DX9 vs DX10 threads lately.. I think someone should just make a sticky of it..

IMO, I've gained a huge performance increase in all of my games when I switched to DX10. I have yet to see any problems with DX10.. DX9 for me was too slow.

So far these are the games that I've tried on DX10 & DX9:
Ibara
Mushihimesama
Persona 3
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (of course LOL)

All of them ran much faster on DX10 for me.

...not very constructive now is it?
The answer is simple: Use what works best for the game you want to play. Some games work better with the DX9 version of GSdx and some work better with the DX10 version.Remember we are NOT talking about DX10 vs DX9 but about DX10 GSdx vs DX9 GSdx.
So,since gabest is giving way more attention to the DX10 version of his plugin,it is pretty obvious it would end up being better in general compared to the DX9 version, which is not being worked on that much

Mmm, a question about GsDx Dx10...

I've just installed Vista and i don't know if i must place some dx files into the Pcsx2 folder; when i had XP installed i did it with Dx9, but now i dont know if it's still necessary.

Thanks Wink
