That is the internal resolution of the game, that number will always be the same no matter what resolution you pick in the dialogue. It has NOTHING to do with the final rendered image.

Play a game using native res button checked (this will run the game you just should at 512x448) Play the game for awhile in game, now untick "native res" and put a large number like 1024x1024. Compare image quality. There will be a drastically clearer picture at 1024x1024 even though the taskbar will still say 512x448.

But I'm talking about the game to be square, Even in the resolution 1024x1024 "Res"

Did you just write that 848x480 in the GSdx window or you change it from the ini file.If it's the fist one...you can't set resolution lower than 512x512 from there and in that way even if you write for example 848x480,the resolution will be 848x512 which will most likely look bad.

Also resolutions lower than 1024x768 WILL give you those results

Edit:...guess you did exactly the first one.Now I looked again your screenshoot and the resolution of the image is 856x512(848x512)

chaves: The window resolution won't change because that option isn't the window resolution, it's the game resolution. It will always look like a square in window mode unless you go into DX9 and change the window size (not recommended since DX10 plays so much better)

Again, if you change the resolution and actually look at the picture, it will be very obvious that the option works exactly as intended. If you went into fullscreen mode, you'd also be able to tell much easier.

You're just confused by the difference between internal res and window res.

If you mean you still see a "square" when selecting a widescreen resolution you need to change the aspect ratio from "4:3" to stretch or "16:9"
