GSdx
the game seems to use kinda weird upscaling techniques.
I don't like games in general that use post processing effects that make the image unnecessary blurry.
GTA San Andreas and Gran Turismo 4 are some to mention.

As I said, the game requires to mix the output rendering with the content of the GS memory. And then redo a draw. The only way to do it is to first downscale the RT, merge it, redraw it. Unfortunately you just lost most of the antialiasing power. (It could also be a texture cache bug that flush for nothings). Anyway, it is a shame but I'm afraid it can't be better.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, the upscaling works fine for me:

Tested the NTSC-U version on 1358 and the latest git -1602-, both work fine. BTW, Imgur compressed the PNG's to jpeg's, the game looks better in the emu than these shots, and the difference between upscaled and native is much clearer than this.

I have PAL version.

Can't see the detail in your images, are too small.

Happy new year.

Edit: Yes, seems that in NTSC version it's working ok.

Yeah, the PAL version is completely broken with 50Hz for me, and in 60Hz, it is slow in hardware, and the upscaling does not work. I guess you'll need to get the NTSC version then if you wanted the upscaling.

Thanks to all, yeah seems that it's the PAL version that it's broken.

Can the game has so differences in PAL for upscale doens't work?

Anyway my original copy it's PAL (that it's in my native language) and I can't buy another copy.

I still playing at x2, still better than original hardware, better image quality, 16:9 in all games, wireless pad, and do not have another thing on my desk.

@gregory can you do some workaround to fix onmusha 4 PAL black screen when enabling widescreen patches?

Thanks to all.

Running gsdx Opengl on v1.5.0-dev-25-gde2b97c, the log shows an error message
Code:
Buggy driver detected, GL_ARB_separate_shader_objects will be disabled
Note the extension was fixed on Mesa 11.1, you will need a manual overwrite to use it
Despite me running windows

Yes, it tells you to swith to a new OS to have a working driver. Code is messy enough, it isn't important.
