GT4 Low memory message
#1
When i run GT4 sometimes i get low memory (ram) message that pops up and windows changes from aero to basic, so i monitored my ram usage while running GT4 and it never exceeds 3GBs i have 6GBs so i dont understand why i get this message, also after that message comes up if i keep playing sometimes i get message that says memory could not be read and emulator crashes, both messages usually come up when cars are lapping/warming up right before the race or during replay, both of those seem to be most demanding portions of the game as i get very minor freezes only at those times besides that game runs flawlessly, any help would be appreciated my specs are in sig and im using pcsx2 0.9.9.5128, SSE4.1 hardware mode DX11 4x Native res and only recommended speed hacks

Hmmm...

Maybe using the 4GB patch on your PCSX2 execute would help.

Yes im using x64 windows 7 OS, where can i find 4GB patch for pcsx2 ? i didn't even know it existed

Edit: just monitored ram usage at the exact time that the message comes up and just for a second ram usage spikes to 5GB and thats when the message comes up, i just dont understand why the spikes ? during race im averaging 2.3GB

Well the patch definitely helped it made the replay run flawlessly no freezes now, and the freezes before the race are pretty much gone, but when ram usage spikes above 4GB i still get the message and crash, i wish there was 6GB patch or some way to limit the ram usage spikes to 4GB, i would never think that ram out of all things would be the limiting factor for pcsx2 but in this case it is

RAM isn't really a limiting factor, but more the way it's used in this specific case.

A memory leak causes unnatural memory usage, and an inevitable crash.

Are you using a software renderer?
I'm not directly familiar with GT4's emulation (just discussion of it),
but it does seem to me it had a memory issue with hardware...

its definitely a memory leak, as it spikes to 5GB and then returns to about 2.3GB and stays there most of the time, but its still can be fixed by allowing pcsx2 use 5GB of ram, ive been reading about patching 32bit programs to use over 4GB of ram and it seams possible but i havent found an actual patch yet
