Game Closes, No sound, And what does this error mean?
I've been trying to play MGS3: Snake Eater.
But when the first cinematic is about to begin, PCSX2 closes and this code appears in XQuartz:

Framelimiter rate updated (UpdateVSyncRate): 50.0 fps
Offset 0x2900000 invalid. Legit SIGSEGV. Aborting.
pcsx2.sh: line 2: 3216 Segmentation fault ./pcsx2

What does this mean? Am I missing something?
Also, there's no sound coming from PCSX2, I can't hear anything.

I'm running this on a Macbook Pro, OS X.

Please post the full XQuartz text from top to bottom so we can see everything its doing or not doing. Also which plugins are you using? The ZeroSPU plugins default sound is set to mute so you need to uncheck mute under the sound plugin configure.

pretty sure he did dump the bios by the looks of it.

Which version on Mac OS X are you running? There are different versions of pcsx2 depending on your operating system.

Also, you are running in PAL (european) format. Is the format of MGS3 you have a PAL or NTSC (North American) because that could cause some problems there.

And some games simply haven't been debugged in pcsx2 mac yet and will crash as each game tends to need custom fixes. If all else fails try another (and more popular) game perhaps? Maybe a game that is confirmed to work for sure.

Say, doesnt these two lines:
Code:
Offset 0x2900000 invalid. Legit SIGSEGV. Aborting.
pcsx2.sh: line 2: 3747 Segmentation fault ./pcsx2
always mean that you miss a bios?

RE: Game Closes, No sound, And what does this error mean?
as far as i know that just means that it came across an error, and different lines in the offset and whatnot mean different things.

the lines given when no bios are present are
Code:
* PCSX2 *: ExecuteBios
Offset Oxea000000 invalid. Legit SIGSEGV. Aborting.
pcsx2.sh: line 2: 10155 Bus error ./pcsx2
which is clearly a different error code than he received. And a different fault.
Code:
* PCSX2 *: ExecuteBios Complete

Offset 0x2900000 invalid. Legit SIGSEGV. Aborting.
pcsx2.sh: line 2: 3747 Segmentation fault ./pcsx2

possible things i can think of are he downloaded a bios online from somewhere and it was not a proper version or was corrupt or manipulated in some form.

Or i see the line
Code:
Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display "/tmp/launch-7Zm2Bv/org.macosforge.xquartz:0".
rather often in a lot of peoples posts, which i believe is related to having a leopard version on snow leopard, and possibly vice versa.

I could be wrong about some of this as I don't have that much experience in this but i have tried to analyze trends in errors and error codes to understand the causes and solutions and most of the bash does make sense to me since I know a few coding languages.
