Game runs slow/laggy
#1
My hardware:

Intel i7 870 @ 3.5Ghz
Gigabyte 470 GTX 667/1695 and 1.25GB VRAM
16GB DDR3 1600

Version of PCSX2 1.0.0

Game: Gran Turismo 4

When I attempt to play this game it's nearly unplayable. It's so slow and laggy. No way should the above hardware have any issues emulating a PS2. With so many different plugins, configurations I really don't have time to try all of them individually to see which one works.

So can anyone give me some pointers on where to at least get started looking so I'm not wasting all my time? Gotta be an easy solution.

GT4 is known as one of the most demanding games. Try the MTVU speedhack and ee cyclerate/ vu cycle stealing sliders.

if your GPU had been better, I would have said so.
I suppose you must have set an internal res higher than 2x, which is a bad choice for this gpu.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

I am played gt3 in my proccesor i5 2500k in 60 fps all time with really minor slowdowns or unoticsable slowdowns with 3x native with an gc of gtx 650. So, i think an i7 is enough to play this game properly . But your gc is weak fr this game. I suggest to upgrde ur gc. Or use ee and vu sliders speedhack to 2 or to their dflt config.

470gtx is consider weak? i pretty sure 470gtx still out performs 650gtx not by huge about but still more powerful a 660gtx would outperform the 470gtx though. I would think i7 even 870 special overclocked would be exceptable for that game not perfect but playable.

The op is also using a old build he should try with the SVN builds as 1.0.0 does not mtvu hack support among other things

470 is not weak... maybe jesalvein misread?

Geforce GTX 470 = 3563

Geforce GTX 650 = 1826

Geforce GTX 660 = 4113.

A GTX 470 is more than sufficient for pretty much anything PCSX2 related.

definitely.
I took it as a Geforce 400
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS

Not using any custom resolution. I have it checked to run at it's native resolution, whatever that might be. The game is literally unplayable.

If GT4 is so demanding, what about GT3? Really not much difference between the games to really be concerned. I'll give GT3 a try and see what happens.

As for an overclocked 470 GTX being under powered, I don't see how seeing as how it as fast as or faster than your 560 GTX, it's also a lot faster than a 650 GTX.

What are these SVN builds?

I looked up your CPU - I'd say that's most likely the problem. Too slow.

SVN = subversion

It means the latest build available.
