Going to buy a new desktop computer and I want input
#1
I want a computer to play both the lastest games and run pcsx2 as fast as possible without OC (I don't care if I loose 2 or 3 fps)

What I would like to know is that If the processor i7 860 will perform better than the processor in my signature.

Also what do you think about the 460 GTX Card? Woudl you recommend the ATI 5870 over this one? For Both pcsx2 and playing games.

Thnak you very much
My Computer: Intel i7 870 @ 2.93 Ghz. XForce Ati Radeon 5870 with 1 Gb RAM. 6 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM.

There is no doubt that the i7 860 would out perform your Q6600.

I personally would probably go with the GTX 460, it should be enough to last and would be plenty for PCSX2. I think the HD 5870 is actually better, though.

5870 is against 480 and not 460... you cant compare gpu's like that...
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.
Pcsx2: Always Latest

Ofcourse! i7 860 will perform much better than ur current System.
R u having any problem with ur current system? Quad core is ok for PCSX 2..
Though i7 is better than that. Has 4 core processors. I think Its Good for gaming.

Also if u want to cut down expenses, i would suggest i5 760 @ 2.8 ghz ( 4 cores).

Thanks for the input. About my current system, I can play a lot of pcsx2 games just fine but some go quite slow. I have the opportunity to upgrade so I wanted to make sure that I bought a better processor. Nice idea about the i5 though I'll look into it.

I know the 5870 compares with the 480 but aren't the 5870 and the 460 about the same price? That is why I was asking. Is one better than the other for pcsx2? and for games in general?

EDIT1: One other question what is the real difference between the core i5 and i7?
EDIT2: Answered my own question the only real difference between the i5 - 750 and the i7 - 860 is hyperthreading, that I think having four cores allready is really not necessary.... what do you think?

The GTX480 is incredebly overpriced in my country.

I was now actually considering an i7 870 with the GTX460.... I think that is the best I can get with my buget....

if you were considering a 5870 in the first place.
Going down to an i5 750 and a GTX480 should be about the same price.
Just overclock the i5.

Yes however I've been asking around my town and these are the prices:
Core i7 870
4 Gb 1333
x2 500 Gb 7000
GeForce 460GTX

is about 1600 dollars (my budget)
If I trade up to the 5870 I get us$1784
And if I go with the 480 GTX I get uss$2200 ( This card is priced at about 1000 dollars in my country Sad )

So It's going to have to be the 460 GTX. However I can upgrade the processor within my budget....

That's pretty damn expensive.
Make sure you get a mobo that supports sli then.
So you can add a 2nd GTX460 in the future.
