What I would like to know is that If the processor i7 860 will perform better than the processor in my signature.

Also what do you think about the 460 GTX Card? Woudl you recommend the ATI 5870 over this one? For Both pcsx2 and playing games.

Thnak you very much

Ofcourse! i7 860 will perform much better than ur current System.
R u having any problem with ur current system? Quad core is ok for PCSX 2..
Though i7 is better than that. Has 4 core processors. I think Its Good for gaming.

Also if u want to cut down expenses, i would suggest i5 760 @ 2.8 ghz ( 4 cores).

pcsx2 cant recognize 4 cores only 2

RE: Going to buy a new desktop computer and I want input
Sure. But a lot of games uses the 4 cores now.

And I want to buy the best machine all around. I was thinking and I will probably go with the Ati 5870 after all (with the I7 870) I think if I wait about a month more I can buy that.

Are there any counter indications to buying Ati for pcsx2? How about in general? I know the card is a lot better than the 460, but I'm asking compatibility wise....

Thanks

My Computer: Intel i7 870 @ 2.93 Ghz. XForce Ati Radeon 5870 with 1 Gb RAM. 6 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM.

a good overclocking can give you by far more than just 2 or 3 fps.

Intel 486 DX33 33Mhz
8MB EDO Ram
S3 Graphics Trio64V+
Windows 95
Running MGS3 Snake Eater fully playable @ 0.05 fps

Yes well, I still don't think I'd like to overclock my machines. Call it playing it safe. As you can see by the prices I can't afford to have bad luck Smile

Another thing Can anyone help me too....
Thinking of buying i5....But....which one is good???
i5 750 or i5 760?????

In the magazines and all, i have only heard about 750 not 760!! why is that???

As 760 has more clockspeed than 750....
760 @ 2.80ghz
750 @ 2.66ghz.....

i5 750 are more popular simply cause people who know what they're doing would save the 30-40 dollars for a better cooler and overclock it to 4.0Ghz. The i5 750 and 760 overclock to about the same frequency, they're essentially the same chip, except Intel wants to charge people extra bucks for the few FLOPs.

CPU: i7 930 @ 2.8GHz(Everyday)/3.6GHz(Gaming)/4.0GHz(Encoding)
GPU: Geforce GTX 480 @ 850MHz/1001MHz
Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D-E
RAM: 2x3 6GB OCZ @ 1527MHz 8-8-8-24

Core i7 870
4 Gb 1333
x2 500 Gb 7000
GeForce 460GTX

is about 1600 dollars (my budget)
If I trade up to the 5870 I get us$1784
And if I go with the 480 GTX I get uss$2200 ( This card is priced at about 1000 dollars in my country Sad )

So It's going to have to be the 460 GTX. However I can upgrade the processor within my budget....

looks like that u live in saudi arabia cuz its almost as same as 1000 USD here

i recommend buying the 5870 much cheaper and doesnt heat up like the 480 does or any other Nvidia card

BTW u shouldn't find much difference while playing most games or pcsx2 by using any of ATI 5650
and up so is GTX 260 and up unless ur playing @ 2560x1600 which is pretty much unnecessary

and for CPU i guess it would be similar for both i7 870 and i5 750 (while playing most games and pcsx2)

i suggest you read more about overclocking.... its not that dangerous and can save you buying the new cpu

i overclocked E4500 from 2.2 GHz to 3.0 GHz with stock fan

Yeah the power consumption is what really frightens me about that card.... (also it's temperature) and I am talking about the 480GTX.

Seriously, $30-40? Difference between the two based on 1ku pricing is just $10. Retail, I've actually seen the i5-760 dip down to i5-750 territory. Another thing, since the i5-760 was released more recently, it probably benefits from improved manufacturing processes. Which one you should buy depends on pricing and availability. Assuming the price difference between the two is just around $10 or less, I'd go i5-760. If it's considerably more expensive or if availability is an issue, then just stick to the i5-750.

RE: Going to buy a new desktop computer and I want input
I've pretty much settled that I'm going to go for the Ati 5870 card.

However I can't yet decide between i5-760 and i7 - 870. Will I really notice the 133 Mhz difference of stock speed speaking of PCSX2 with "Most Games" performance?

I said most games becuase I know no processor runs everything perfectly... so I was just wandering....

Thanks!

Among the games I want to play you can include:
Shadow of the Colossus
Rogue Galaxy
Star Ocen
FF Maximum Impact
Metal Gear Solid 3
Super Robot Wars Z
Radiata Stories

What do you think.
