Got a new mobo! Help me OC
#1
UPDATE:
Could I get ram to run at 1600mhz?
If I got 1600mhz ram and raise my fsb to 400 would it work?

--
I got a new gigabyte S2PT at a local shop for 60 bucks

OC's so far
e6700 4.133ghz 333fsb 12.5 multi 1.50v booted (too hot because someone installed my stuff wrong)

e5700 4.000ghz 333fsb 12.0 multi 1.40v BSOD
e5700 4.000ghz 266fsb 15.0 multi 1.40v BSOD
e5700 4.000ghz 333fsb 12.0 multi 1.45v BSOD
e5700 4.000ghz 266fsb 15.0 multi 1.45v BSOD
e5700 4.000ghz 333fsb 12.0 multi 1.50v TESTING, FAILED PRIME95 MAX 78C

e6700 4.000ghz 333fps 12.0 multi 1.50v? Not sure if I have vdroop, cpu-z says 1.45... so...
Anyways stable e6700 4ghz

you're hitting northbridge limits there, not cpu limits.

no? at low clocks everything runs fine.
I am on my e6700 4ghz @1.45v stable
my e5700 just sucks is all
also I am guessing my northbridge can hit at least a bit more than 333mhz, my board advertises 333 northbridge cpu support
but anything above it and my ram freaks the hell out, so maybe after i get some 1600mhz ram ill test 400mhz

I'd also say your CPU is at the limit. Maybe some tweaks can stabilize it, especially load line calibration is notorious for limiting maximum overclocks.

id never push a core 2 to 4 gig lol. Anything pre sandybridge i sorta hover around 3.4-3.6Ghz at a most.

nah my i5 760 does it quite well on 4ghz only need a better cooler xD
and that is obv pre sandy bridge Tongue

ot your cpu is just at its limits why even wanna go over 4ghz? its overkill for that processor.
