Gran Tutrismo 4....does the game itself suffer from dropped frames?

Framerate drops would have to be rather severe and EE related on real hardware in order for them to manifest themselves in PCSX2. I can't remember any such issues with GT4.

PCSX2 pretty much completely removes the GS as a bottleneck (this is actually one of the reasons cutscenes in Shadow of the Colossus are so hard to emulate, they seem to be mostly GS bottlenecked on real hardware and because the game has an unlocked framerate it therefore tries to run at 60fps in PCSX2), and playing around with debug builds seems to show that even EE load is consistently lower in PCSX2 vs. real hardware, so it wouldn't accurately reflect minor drops.
