Imo, if you want to play a ps2 game using this emulator, I would go for an Nvidia Card and a processor of at least 3.5ghz or more.
Windows 7 - Asus G73jh-a1 - 17-720qm @ 1.6 GHz (2.8 GHz)(2.4ghz)(1.73ghz) - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 @ 700/1000 (sometimes oc to 800/1100) - 8 gig ram

nvidia 9600gt with 1gb memory and wou will be able to play every game fullspeed. Also i think a dual core at 2,5GHz(or more) will be able to emulate almost all games without the use of speedhacks. My q9300 is at 2,5GHz(stock speed) and i only use speedhacks when i want to play god of war 2

9600GT 1GB and 512MB makes almost no difference in performance unless you plan to game at extremely high resolutions with AA and AF.
