HD 5670 or 8800GT
Hi,
I'd like to replace my 8800GT to a HD5670, because of the lower power usage, also it can use dx11, they have about the same performance in PC games (maybe HD5670 is a little better too in most of the games), and it is newer...
What about PCSX2? Will be the performance about the same? I read before that geforce is better for pcsx2, i don't want to buy an ati if it is much worse... but if it is almost the same than it is ok, also it supports DX11 which should be better, right? (If I'm right the new gsdx already supports dx11)
Thanks in advance!

No, the HD5670 is about as fast as a 9600gt, 8800/9800gt should still be faster on PC games, on PCSX2 should be about the same too.
The new GSdx uses the DX11 runtime, not the DX11 only features (tesselation, shaders 5.0) so that shouldn't matter.

I don't think going for a card that could actually be slower is that great of an idea even if uses less power and has DX11 support.

Hmm I see thanks... well I have some problems with the 8800gt's high power usage(~190 w at max, HD5670 = ~60w), i had a 7600gs(~30w) before, that's why i want to replace it, and in reviews according that i've seen, in some games it even performs better than a 9800gt, in some games it's worse... that's why i wondered about pcsx2... based on that theoritically it could be either a little better, or a little worse.

So dx11 doesn't have any advantages in pcsx2? The runtime doesn't matter anything?

Well if you're upgrading I would advise you don't upgrade to anything less than 5750. But with this you can play at 1080P for any game I think.

Still most people, when they're upgrading from 8800GT, upgrade to at least a 5770, or even 5850/5870 since the 8800GT is a fairly capable card, and when people upgrade, they want something that doubles the performance.

RE: HD 5670 or 8800GT
Hmm, okay, thanks for the advices, maybe I'll buy an 5750, the problem is that I have a 350w UPS which i don't want to replace, and when 8800GT is on heavy load it has some problems, i don't really play with newer pc games, only emulators, like pcsx2, on a full hd monitor, most of the games looks better than on a real ps2, and runs perfectly on my E6750+8800gt, (some games which are really slow probably aren't optimized yet or something like that?), so if 5760 would give the same performance and only with max 60w, instead of 190w it wouldn't be bad imo, but if it's worse with pcsx2 than i don't know... 5750 uses ~85w at 100% load, that is still the half of the 8800gt, so probably it should be good enough...

190w? how are you measuring that? That's like really out of what it could possibly do.

well, i don't know, i read it in a review that it consumes 190w when the hd5670 consumes 60w, under full load, which is a big difference...
also in an other review they wrote that "peak power consumption" with a gpu test program is 34.5 w for HD5670, 98.7 w is for 9800gt(there is no 8800gt there, but i believe it consumes around +20% more than 9800gt), so i don't know, maybe the 60/190 are full pc power usages? is that even possible? if they are than sorry for my misunderstanding, but even if they are 35/~120 are a big difference too, they show 69.2 w consumption for the HD 5750 here, which is between the two ... but on an other site i read it consumes 85w at max, so maybe this test isn't over full 100% load

Oh reviews...

You can't really take everything you read on reviews for granted, those 190w could have been all system power not just the card (makes more sense then Tongue). Also depending on the 9800gt reviewed it could be exactly the same as 8800gt or if based in the new architecture as you said 20% less power but also 1-5% slower.
