I don't know if that game is in cd format, but the one I had was the drum mania, the very first one that came with the drum set. There are a few Japanese games I know are in cd format which have "purple back"(or bluish purple) such as winning eleven 5(or 4 or 6, can't remember). Also, not all DVD-R have purple-coloured back.
Note that I mean the side that ps2 reads , and also The NTSC U/C or Pal games may be different because the one that I had and knew were all NTSC-J

I am not a native English speaker, and these two statements mean the same to me. Also, I am talking purly about some cd formated ps2 games to give someone a bit information about early ps2 games. It was not intented to be an argument in any way. It has nothing to do with some random blank dvd-r, nor does it have anything to do with region of those blank dvd-r. Blank dvd-r's colour and region have no relation at all.
I heard someone claim the colour may have something to do with the life span of the dvd or cd, but I have no interest finding out whether it is true or not.
