Having some issues with FFX
#1
Hey there! Awesome emulator! Probably the best one I've ever seen.

I've been playing Final Fantasy X on it, and I've been having a few issues. The framerate is dropping to around 40 FPS or so at certain points, particularly when I'm in water. It was at it's worst when I was with Wakka swimming back to Besaid Village near the beginning.

The Framerate also dips VERY low whenever someone uses a Demi spell or a Fire Spell. It'll go as low as 25-30 FPS, and then immediately shoot back up to 60 once the spell animation is over.

PC spec:

Processor: Intel Core i5 650 @3.20 GHz
GPU: nvidia GeForce GT 620 (I know the GPU could use some work. Hopefully will be upgrading in about 2 weeks)
Memory: 8GB DDR3
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro

It IS the best emulator you've ever seenTongue
Even I get slowdowns during Demi upscaled. It's your GPU holding you back. Are you using upscaling at all? If you are try native resolution.

Also try disabling 8-Bit textures.

Are you using any speedhacks?

Thanks for the quick response! Here are some screenshots of the settings I'm currently using. Anything else you need to know just let me know!

Your settings look good but you should tick native resolution in Graphics settings until you upgrade your GPU. It will look a bit worse though.

Okay. Thanks again! As far as the Demi slowdowns go, there's really nothing I can do about it, you say?

Except disabling 8 Bit textures and setting VU Cycle Stealing to 1, Which you have already done, Nothing much else. Your GPU is too weak.

Are you running the game from an ISO or straight from the disk?

Check "Enable HW hacks" in your GSDX window, then click configure.
set skipdraw to 1 and enable "agressive crc"
That helped me with special casting such as Demi and Ifrit's overdrive.
A side note: I use a PAL version so don't know if it's different with NTSC.
