also have you tried fast boot?

hmm okay, can you show me the contents of the iso image? This is very odd...

also just to note, have you tried using "fast boot" instead of "full boot" incase it happens to make a difference?

The ISO image has two folders on it, one called AUDIO_TS and another called VIDEO_TS
the audio one is empty but the video one has two files in it, one called VIDEO_TS.BUP and another called VIDEO_TS.IFO

also fast booting does not work

that's a video DVD, not a ps2 game...

At the moment I am using a DVD video player that's hooked up to my computer to rip the iso's, since my desktop doesn't have a CD/DVD drive
so it might be turning it into a Video disc automatically, I will go and try to use my laptop to rip it and see if that changes anything

after using the laptop to rip the ISO I now have a bunch of game looking files like
SYSTEM.CNF, DATA0.AFS and such, but it still just red screens me

Yup, even on fast boot it still just gives me a red cloud/cube/vortex thing telling me to insert a Playstation or Playstation2 format disk

on another note, fast boot is supposed to skip the splash screens, but i still see then, so could it be that fast boot isn't working for me?

this problem is getting really bizarre
