Help Optimizing PCSX2
#1
Hello folks, I've been having some trouble getting games to run properly. While they do work, and I usually get decent FPS, the game will often drop in FPS briefly but drastically, causing odd audio glitches and video lag. I was wondering if you all could help me figure out what settings and features should and shouldn't be enabled to get the games running as best they game.
Below is my system information

I am using PCSX2 v1.0.0, and I'm trying to play Bully. I'm playing it via ISO file. I don't have any non-default settings enabled.

GS jumps from 0-1% to 3-4%, and EE has a low of 20 and a high of 50.
FPS stays at a steady 50-60, depending on if the game is PAL or NTSC.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

I should mention these stats were taken from SMT: Raidou, which is a game that previously ran stutter-free. It is alao run via ISO

Bully is considerably worse. The EE spikes all the way to 98% and the GS stays between 10-30

means your CPU is struggling, then...
it's highly possible that 2.5 ghz won't be enough to cut it out.
you'll have to experiment with speedhacks.

Okay, thanks for the help. One last question, if you don't mind. What exactly does pcsx2 mean when it says games have lower compatibility? Will some games not work with speedhacks? Or do the graphics take a slight hit?

depends on the game.
it can bring graphical glitches or just make them crash
