Hitman Blood Money PAL (SLES 53028) crashes after intro movie!
#1
When running Hitman Blood Money PAL (SLES 53028) in Hardware or Software Mode, it crashes right after the Test TV Settings screen!

Help gods of PCSX2! This is my favorite PS2 game of all time and I'm desperate for this game to work. My PS2 is out of action for a while now.

This game hasn't been on the compatibility list for years now. Please don't forget this game!

My only hope is PCSX2

Then there is an endless loop of :

GSdx: out-of-memory, texturing temporarily disabled

After that PCSX2 hangs!

All my games (quite a large collection) work perfectly fine with PCSX2

I tried to run the game with an iso and also with my original game disc, with exactly the same results

You can try to run this game with any version of PCSX2, and you will get the same result. Like I said this has been the problem for years!

Its strange that this is the only game in my collection that crashes PCSX2!

I've just tried my copy again as I recently(ish) patched my PCSX2 exe with the 4GB patch and this has helped on quite a few previously "bad" titles.

However, in this case it seems to have made no difference.

I can get to the intro movie (after a while) and then my entire machine is pretty much brought to its knees. When I can finally get Task Manager running it shows that "something" is trying to use more RAM than exists in the entire known universe but I can't see what. I get no error messages in PCSX2 and my machine becomes so unresponsive that it takes about a minute to be able to move the mouse in Task Manager just so I can kill PCSX2.

I checked the log file and there's nothing in it other than what I could already see - i.e. game boots up fine and then that's it. Other games will show GSdx errors etc but this game literally tries to kill my machine.

My specs (in case they're relevant):
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Intel i7-3770 @ 3.4GHz
16GB RAM

PCSX2 version is r5864 (but I get the same thing happen in every version I've tried before).

EDIT: I've just read the above re widescreen patch etc and I'm not using anything other than default settings.

FullBoot vs FastBoot?
Testet Rounding modes/ clamping modes?
SuperVU instead of micro-vu?

I've not updated PCSX2 for a while and assumed "Apply Widescreen Hacks" was NOT on by default so sorry for any confusion. I don't use it as I have a 4x3 monitor so I can confirm that it's not that causing any issues.

EDIT: OK, I've worked out what was causing the problem. Stupidity. I was under the impression I was running it in software mode but apparently I wasn't. I think I must have hit F9 one too many times at some point. Anyway, having switched it to software mode it now seems to work ok. I tried switching to hardware mode once I was in the game and there's a ton of screen garbage and it drops to about 1fps.

In a nutshell... Software mode = playable.

Are you using the PAL or NTSC version of the game?

The PAL(SLES 53028) version in software mode definitely not playable
