How to configure DBZ in laptop
#11
Umm, to be exact that config is ok to play DBZ:BT3 even without cpu turbo as it isn't demanding at all for cpu, usually gpu is the only problem/limitation for this game, through 540M should be enough at least for a native, maybe even x2.

Things to do to play this game easily on any pc thats above 2ghz dual core with mid range gpu could be divided to 3 main steps:

- use svn version of pcsx2 and it's plugins - available here - this will fix graphical glitches and also make it much lighter on the cpu, forget about old pcsx2 versions unless you really like the flashing screen feature,

- make sure to use SSE4(to make this step universal SSE2 - for amd users, not much of a difference in this game anyway) GSdx hardware dx11(if it's xp you're stick to dx9 which sadly is a bit slower), checking native res and later if the game will be fast enough try x2 or custom something between, but to begin start from native, also in GSdx make absolutely sure to have option "allow 8 bit textures" turned ON as it gives a hell lot for this game, especially in low-mid range gpu's,

- in case of still having problems with speed, check which I dunno why nobody proposed yet couse that's probably(unless you have 2 gpu's and pcsx2 is using the crappy integrated one) what give you such crappy speed to begin with, windows power settings, most laptops by default are in power saving mode which is slow as laptops aren't really gaming rig's, change it to performance or anything higher it was and you should feel the difference, through the laptop will also be more likely to overheat during play and you should get a cooling pad for your laptop if you really wish to play on it longer,

- profit aka enjoy the game.

On additional notes, speedhacks aren't needed at all for such cpu, but to make it a bit lighter you can turn on recommended ones EXCEPT MTVU, it will just add load on another core without any speed increase, don't touch sliders either they don't change anything for this game. Also if pcsx2 crashes from time to time encountering a problem with Xsomething.dll you can also change SPU2-X options and change Xaudio module to DirectSound to assure it's crash free as well. That's pretty much all about this game. If you have absolutely no idea how to turn those suggestions in life, start by reading a guide Livy linked in the first reply.

To sum it up, if that rig was desktop you would have no problems at all, it's an laptop soo you will probably have overheating problems unless living in arctic or some other Canada and playing outdoors, but if you use svn pcsx2 version considering above suggestions graphics will be clean and should get to full speed too without much trouble.

Happy Xmas ho ho ho :X

Is your laptop's Power Plan set to "High Performance"?
Does your laptop have Optimus?

What do the EE% and GS% say when running slow?

P.S. I wouldn't assume the laptop is overheating, especially with Intel's newer processors (and not even a high-end one, at that). Check the CPU temps when emulating to be sure.
