How to optimize my PCSX2 experience. :D

Tongue
Hi, I was wondering how I can have improved fps on tekken 5, running from an iso.
Here are my specs:

Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz, 2001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
8GB RAM DDR3
1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 525M

I'm pretty sure my computer is well equipped to handle a ps2 game, but what settings to I need to change in pcsx2 to make the game work the best, AND look the best? I get roughly 30fps on the main menus (not bad), but once i hit the gameplay (fighting), it drops to low fps, like FOURTEEN!! Thanks, in advance!

Specs aren't too bad, what games are you trying to run, and how are you
currently setup?

EDIT: Sorry I didn't see the part about Tekken 5. And I agree with the guy
below me with that.

your graphics card cant handle a game like tekken 5, its quite demanding and you cant compare an emulator to actual pc games if you were wondering that Tongue

Lol...yes. I have to agree that tekken 5's graphics are demanding. But how can i tweak my settings for best fps and graphic quality?

Here are my current setttings:

1366x768 60hz (i prefer to keep at highest res)
direct3d10 hardware (or software? which one is better?)
pixel shader 3.0
no interlacing (would interlacing make graphic quality better or improve fps?)
nloop hack checked
texture filtering checked
wait vsync unchecked
enable tv-out unchecked
logaritihimc z unchecked
alpha correction checked

scale the resolution to 2x native its still quite good looking and it should be better for your vidcard.

3d10 hardware is most of the time the better option, especially if you want to maintain image quality.

i cant help you further then this im afraid dont have the game myself :C

Deselect Native and under Custom Pulldown menu choose 2x Native

DO NOT use scaling with Tekken 5, unless you like the black lines.

Stick with the default custom values 1024x1024 for up-scaling in your case.

Although, for now you should probably just use native,
to ensure your not being limited by your GPU.

Interlacing doesn't really touch the FPS,
but will improve visual quality in most cases.
It can also help a jumpy screen. Wink

Your processor is pretty decent,
but I'm sure you'll need Speedhacks to have chance at full speed.
(note that's a "chance", because your system will not conquer all PS2 emulation)

I can also recommend you try setting VU1 to use the superVU1 recompiler.
This may help you squeeze out a few more FPS.

You can always check out the latest SVN,
and see if it offer any improvement for the game.
There is also a new MTVU hack that may or may not help.

Defiantly use the latest svn as Rezard pointed out, and use the MTVU hack. Also set extra render threads in Gsdx to 5 as it gives noticeable fps increase

What I've been told about the software threads if you have a Quad-core don't use anything above 3 Smile Otherwise it'll gobble up all the CPU Cores and the EE won't get any decent amount of processing time.
