How well does the G3258 hold up to emulation when it isn't overclocking?

So, dq8 had a ff12 demo disc.

This is at stock speed. Yes, MTVU can improve performance on a dual core.

DQ8 first town
85-120 fps(90-125fps with MTVU) EE-0 VU-0

FF12 both demo areas
110-145 fps(120-160fps with MTVU) EE-0 VU-0

SOTC 11th colossus(larger ones might run slower)
75-85 fps EE-0 VU-1 MTVU-0(slows this game down considerably)

Jak and Daxter Town and Beach areas
70-115 fps EE-0 VU-1 MTVU-1(MTVU and VU-1 help a LOT, both are needed to maintain full speed)

But wait, if you already have the CPU, why not try it out yourself? XD

Messed up on the mobo, I'm getting a new one next week.

Since the question asked was how the G3258 performs without being OC'ed, and since you're not stating what IR multiplier or what video card you're using, I'm assuming you're doing all of these tests in software mode for the OP?

EDIT:
Do you get a chance to perform a Quickening in the demo?

What does EE and VU mean? Also, thanks for the current update!

EE Cyclerate and VU Cycle Stealing. It's under the 'Speedhacks' tab in 'Emulation Settings'. I believe he's signifying that they're off. So it seems the G3258 can handle games pretty well without needing to use speedhacks.

The framerates are for native ps2 resolution in hardware mode. My gtx 660 seems to be able to handle all of these games so far at 3- 4x with very little or no loss in performance, though. If you want me to test software mode I can, but the only games I own that need it are ratchet and clank, and I'm pretty sure those won't run full speed.

I don't know what that is. I can try it I guess.

EE cycle rate and VU cycle stealing. 0 means they're not being used. I guess EE-1 would be more correct.

Oh it wasn't a question of games 'needing' software mode, I just figured that since the OP also didn't state what video card he was using, I figured he was going to be using the G3258's IGP for the time being. I'm not sure, though. Let's have him clear this up for us.

I can test software mode for any of these games, but I don't know how well it would represent a game that would really require it.

Also, I think he has a gtx 650...

That he does. I should have checked his profile before saying anything lol. Yeah don't worry about software mode...I think we're good lol.

What about Quickenings though? Were you able to perform one in the FFXII demo? If not that's something I can test out next week once I get the G3258 in.

Not yet, I'll try it right now.
