I have a PS2 video and music ripping question.
#1
I have this game called Dance Dance Revolution Supernova 2 for the Playstation 2. I liked some of the music videos so much just for themselves that I wished that those stupid arrows weren't in the way of the music videos. That's when I realized that I could eliminate those stupid arrows (which are just a graphic overlay) and just watch the music videos if I could somehow rip the video files out of the game and convert them to AVI files for watching on my computer.

Does anybody know of any software that can do such ripping and converting? Would I be able to use a general PS2 ripping tool? Or would I have to use SPECIFIC software made JUST for the game Dance Dance Revolution Supernova 2? And where can I get any software I'll need for this ripping and converting project of mine?

you can also try using fraps or hypercam to tape them

I don't know. That's why I came here to these forums, hoping to find an expert ripper who could immediately tell me (upon me naming the game) what file extension extension is used for video files in that game, what format the videos are in, and what software to use for ripping said videos into an AVI (or other computer playable video) file.

You obviously don't get what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to rip a video from a SPECIFIC PS2 game called "Dance Dance Revolution: Super Nova 2". Watch this youtube video and you'll see the video I'd like to rip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy78GHilB0o

This youtube video I found is what the screencapture (as you suggested) gets you. It shows NOT ONLY the video, but ALSO the video overlay (the direction arrow indicators falling across the screen) which is important to the game play, but for just watching the video (I LOVE watching anime videos) those arrow overlays COMPLETELY ruin the video watching experience. I need to rip the actual video from the PS2 video file and save an AVI file. Problem is these aren't the standard PS2 video files with the extension PSS. In fact I found NO PSS video files on my DDRWackoN2 disk. And I have NO CLUE what the video file extension is for these videos. I'm guessing it is VERY specialized for the game at hand. Not only is it unique to the DDR games, it might EVEN be unique to the specific Supernova subseries of DDR games. Possibly it is even specific to the EXACT game DDRWackoN2 (although I have no other DDR games to compare it to).

If that is the case, I'll have to find a ripping tool for this EXACT game. This is where you guys at forums.pcsx2.net come in. If there is already a video ripper software made for this game (or one which at least can handle all DDR games including this one) I would like you to post a link to such software (or at least PM me with it if you don't feel comfortable publicly posting the download). If NO current ripping tools exist that will work with this game's videos, then one of you pcsx2 forums members (if you are good at programming) can make me one, host it on a file hosting site, and then PM me the download link.
Thanks in advance.

there's several different ones, and most are hidden.

Well isn't that what a ripping tool is for (in this case for DDRWackoN2 videos)? I mean it should be able to convert standalone video files to AVI, but is ALSO supposed to be able to rip videos stored in archive files, and even encrypted video data. After all, that's why rippers exist. If all video files that EVER existed were common video formats, Total Video Converter is the only software I'd ever need.

But that's where you guys at the forums come in. If such a ripper exists, find it an post a download link. If such a ripper does NOT exist, I guess you'll have a big job on your hands. Reverse engineer the videos stored in the games resources, and write a ripper that can find video data, extract it, and then convert the these DDRWackoN2 videos to standard video files (such as AVI), then upload the program to a file hosting site, and then post the downloa link here (or PM me the link).

uh, how about you do it yourself.

Uh. I don't have the slightest clue how to even BEGIN to try to figure out what files the videos are in, or what format they are, or what program to use to rip them. Nor do I have the SLIGHTEST clue how to right ripping program for ANYTHING (except the most basic file formats like VG-Max picture files, but even that took WEEKS to program in Visual Basic 6, my fav programming language, and still it's not quite the ideal program, just the best I could get it which was only fairly good). You see, you guys are my only hope. That was one of the 2 reasons I joined the forums. (the other reason had something to do with pirated games, but after reading the forums rules, I found out you wouldn't be able to help me with pirated stuff)

If you help me get a program for ripping music from DDRWackoN2, I've got something I can pay you back with. Specifically, I know where to find Legend of Zelda hentai. But I'll only give you the link if you help me with this ripping project.

so childish, and so against the rules.

No. I don't think I will.

Then you really shouldn't suggest someone else do it for you. Doing so just make you look like a fool. Are you a fool?

There is a world of difference between "wouldn't be able to" and "won't". It does put your ridiculous thread about PCSX2's legality into perspective,

So let me get this straight: you want someone to do dozens of hundreds of hours of work just so you can stare at rather ugly videos? You do realize anyone capable of doing the reverse-engineering in any reasonable timeframe certainly wouldn't do that work for free, and cartoon porn is not recognized as a form of currency.

How's all your junior high school classes going, anyway? Multiplication tables getting you down? /s

Grow up and stop making stupid suggestions. If you find yourself re-reading your posts and thinking "God this sounds kinda douche-y" it's probably because it is.
