I'm new and I need help.

Hello everyone, I'm new to PCSX2 and I need a little help here.
My game is running slow, definitely you heard that a lot, but I believe my PC specs are good enough to run PS2 games on my Laptop, the game runs smoothly but when I start the game (Game Play) the whole thing becomes slowly and the sound is weird.
My specs are: i5 core, 1GB ATI, 6GB RAM (Dell) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium. (All drivers are up to date)
I'm using PCSX2 0.9.7 (Which is recommended by the official website)
Plus! I tried to change to other plugins but I didn't know how in this version (0.9.7), how I can switch plugins?
Please help me, thanks!
(Sorry for my poor English!)

You need to be abit more specific about your specs, whats the ghz of your cpu and whats the gpu model?
Second specify which game your trying to play, there is a big possibilty that your cpu is too slow since that is usually the case with laptops, but we cant be sure unless we know more. Also post your settings/plugins.
Specs:
CPU: C2D E8400 @ 3.6
GPU: GTX 560Ti 2Gb
MOB: Asus P5QL
RAM: Crucial 4Gb
OS: Windows 7 64bit/XP 32bit

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600)
System Manufacture: Dell Inc.
System Model: Inspiron N6010
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), -2.4GHz
Memory 6144MB RAM
DirectX 11+10+9

I was wondering if there's a plugin that would reduce resolution.

Now kindly tell us your settings in Gsdx,Spu2 and which plugins you are using.According to your specs you might need to overclock your processor a bit otherwise GPU seems ok for getting playable speeds.

the fact that i5 is quad core doesn't help you, when you run pcsx2 you use 2 cores @2.4 ghz, which you can get playable speeds with but not full speed. Ive tested games on mine laptop C2D @2.5 ghz, KH pretty much full speed, KH2 some slowdowns, same with FFX,FFX-2,FFXII, Fight night round 3 was unplayable, didn't try anything else, speedy is right that little overclock to like 3.0 ghz would do wonders for you, but than again its laptop so i wouldn't recommend it

As far as I know, there are no mobile quad-core i5's. His is just an i5 with HyperThreading. Since it's a laptop, make sure your laptop's plugged in to the socket and using the High Performance power profile when playing PCSX2. Might want to switch back to Balanced or Power Saver at other times or your battery will drain quick.
