ok, i have a garbage laptop that runs 20fps of samurai warrior xlegend in battles. now i want a better system

how will this laptop run games in general with pcsx2

i want this because the spec is much better than the current one i have which runs 20fps max in non menu battles in xlegend.

I wouldnt bother, Not with those spec`s. Id go for an i7 cpu at least and a GTX 560M 3g GPU

Fast laptops are expensive, that's just the way it is.
You can get a real pc instead for half the money

yeah, and laptops usually have thermal issues and overheat easily, hard to fix and usually non upgradable, and I don't like the naming scheme on the mobile Intel line of processors since the I5 line for notebooks are dual core with HT , where on desktops they are quad core without HT, so kinda a tricky advertising to confuse people :\

I love laptops because of their size and versatility, despite the performance trade-off. I never think of upgrading a PC. When it is old, I replace it with a new one.

Back to the topic, generally it runs fine. But I recommend you a laptop with the recently released Ivy Bridge (i5 3xxxM) with a GeForce 600 series instead.

Im sorry but i would never recommend a laptop for PCSX2. If you want a gaming laptop so you can play PC games on, thats fine and more expensive ones will nearly always work better for the emulator, but whatever speed it runs at i would be happy with. A laptop will never match a desktop for emulator speed for similar prices, that's just the nature of the beast.

guys you're forgetting 1 most important :

A laptop capable of Running PCSX2 is a portable PS2 !!!!
when you want to go to a freind's house to play couple of games instead unpluging your PS2 and pluging it in there and you use his TV and ehhhhh

you fetch that Laptop and go

Well my laptop plays ALL Ps2 games full speed, so a desktop isnt really an advantage unless price is a concern, which it isnt
As for a laptop matching desktop for performance vs price, Price isnt always a bottleneck, my laptop cost a lot more than a desktop in some was, but for performance there is no difference, im running full speed with up to 3x native, which is as much as most average desktop users push pcsx2. If you got the money and like the compact portability of a laptop , then i say go for it

Well, omnikam, fire up Shadow of the Colossus and tell me how your 3.1Ghz chip churns out unplayble frame rates.
You need some 4.2Ghz+ to get it to full speed currently, something which is only available on desktops.
That GPU is rather weak as well, for the name "GTX560".
