Are there any performance differences between using the PS2 disc or the ISO of the disc?

From what I understand, There's acutally a quicker loading time if you use the ISO from where it doesn't have to read from the disc drive.

That I'm not really certain about. If I had to guess, I would say yes, because like I said earlier, it isn't trying to read the disc, so it loads quicker. I wouldn't quote me on that though. I'll let someone with more experience than me take a stab at that.

you may get some more fps on a few FMVs in a few fames.
but most of the time, it'll be more a "quicker loading times" story.

It won't affect actual gameplay, or just a little.

ISO, beyond the access speed, the disk lecture may create timing problems for PCSX2.
