For security and just to be cool, we use the HTTPS protocol site-wide now, but for some reason the HTTP -> HTTPS redirect isnt working properly so here is the correct link.

Yeah, uh, no. Its just to be cool because it doesn't do anything. Your cert isn't even from a respectable source. MITM could probably duplicate it, if not worst.

COMODO absolutely is a reputable source, its among the largest issuing agency's available, and any site that has user logins and paypal transactions should use SSL.

User logins to a forum are NOT important. There are just a few forums that use it because, like you, "it seems to be cool"
And dont get it twisted: You dont use Comodo's compatible cert. You just got their cheapest package and it is SUPPOSE to be certified but Im pretty sure that someone that knows what they are doing could problably impersonate a simple cert like that.

As a matter of fact, I think there are stronger more reliable SSL certs you can get for free than what you have implemented.

User logins, no matter the site, are ALWAYSE important, and to suggest otherwise is silly. And all COMODO certs use the same exact root keys and encryption, the only difference being weather or not they are wildcard or allow sub domains. And there are no free trusted root certs that are anything more than a 30-90 day trial.

But all this is really moot anyway, we use SSL. If you are here trying to persuade me not to, don't hold your breath.

Do you do something funny during the initial connection? I think it is indeed related to https since it was working before. But can be lack of support from my side and therefore not your problem.

Does it give a response of any type? What OS?

EDIT: Not sure what the issue could be, but I just installed the most recent version of Opera and it seems to work fine, both https and the http -> https redirect

Windows. Error is that there is a connection issue since the server didn't respond within timeout or something like that. But yeah you are right the most recent version is working fine. I am still using the latest version based on presto before they moved to webkit and changed everything on the GUI.

Obviously it is a very rare problem concerning maybe only one of a million or more users. So don't bother solving it.

Im not even sure where I would start, server connection errors should not differ between different browsers. Odd.
