I can't decide whether to get a Laptop or a Desktop Computer.

By principle, the desktop version of the GTX 260 will perform better than the mobile one (except in terms of power consumption).

If you want a computer for gaming purposes, and don't really need to take it out on the road, you should go with a desktop computer.

GTX 260M is roughly equivalent to an 9800 GT.

Most mobile equivalents of desktop components are weaker, including practically all CPUs and graphics cards. Most traditional hard drives are also slower (typically 5400RPM as opposed to 7200RPM), but SSDs are a different matter, since most are 2.5" to begin with.

But yeah, the GTX 260 is definitely more powerful than the GTX 260M.

GTX260M is in fact just a rebranded 9800GT so basically it compares to that card.

GTX 260 (desktop) is miles away from GTX260M
