Is my laptop good enough for PCSX2?
#1
I'm new to PCSX2 and I want to play TMNT 3 - Mutant Nightmare (which has the status Playable in compatibility section). Do you think it will work fine on my laptop with the following specifications?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00 GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
GPU: GeForce 8400M G 512.0 MB
OS: Windows XP SP3

You see, I don't want to go through the whole PCSX2 configuration process and than discover it doesn't work. And another thing, can PS2 bios somehow affect the state of my computer so it won't work properly?

don't expect full speed because it's a laptop and the cpu speed.

the ps2 bios wont affect ur comp in a bad way.

For the speeds, it depends on the game you are trying to play, with the new beta you can get full speeds with all speedhacks on a game like FFX, if pcsx2 is configured properly. I dont have TMNT 3, so i can say best to just try it urself.

Can't you lower the resolution of the game to get normal speed? Like in PC games ... Can that be done?

yes, try enable "native" in the GSdx settings.

you can also edit the gsdx.ini and change the res there lower than 512x512, this will give great speed increses

To reaffirm what Mortred said, the ps2 BIOS cannot harm your computer in any way, shape or form. It's a file like any other, nothing special about it except it's content.
