Is there no way to look into what causes the .hack // G.U Bloom issue?
#1
You know, with the overbloom like some games have...

Unlike other games, Skidrow, offset hacks, all that, nothing helps.

It was easy to initially ignore because the first area or two you go to don't use it much, but later on, it becomes a common effect. I'm 5 or so hours in and sometimes half the screen is just bloom'd out and it's almost worse than playing it in Software.

Mini-map is unfixable I've found as well, though not an issue.  It does work in some dungeons, oddly.

As I get further into the game, as you  can seen in the screenshot, it's harder to ignore than in light areas. Really hurts the enjoyment of running it at 5x native resolution and AF and all that if it's just gonna be like this.

I've tried every configuration  with HW hacks and renderers I could think of.  In cutscenes in game, it's especially bad.

It is only triggered by upscaling? Native HW doesn't produce this issue?

Sorry. Was tired. Skipdraw.

No, it doesn't happen at Native Resolution.

Custom resolutions seem to make the UI disappear. I am using scaling.

Aggressive CRC hack?
The other HW hacks you tried? Alpha, WildArms,..?
TC offset = (500,500) / (250,250) / (750,0) /(?/?) ?

I tried those. And actually, it was tough to spot, but even on Native resolution, it's there, but very hard to see, you kind of see just a small dark shadow around your character.

It's even there in SW mode. It's just much harder to see. So it seems to be a deeper issue...hmm. I've already tried changing the VU and such. No luck.

Possibly some nice crt effect that looks horrible on an lcd.

I think ryudo made some custom TOTA gsdx version containing a specialized hack instead of the half pixel offset hack. Maybe that will help.

Yeah, I know about that version, but the half pixel off-set hack fixes the latest ToA and isn't needed anymore, so if it fixed ToA, it doesn't fix G.U

Just one of those things that at the start seems you can deal with, but it's becoming harder. Sucks, as the game is quite beautiful, so with a res boost and AA...yeah.

Personally I still get the ghosting a little bit with the latest Half-pixel offset hack in ToA... maybe I just notice it more easily, idk.
But it's definitely been improved majorly since the older versions.

I did comparison images myself and couldn't tell the difference, I dunno.

G.U has a super bad case of it. I want that bloom gone. It's just so obnoxious.
