I'm an OS modder shrinking Windows 7 removing as many components as possible by vLite, DISM from WAIK, Rt7lite. So the OS occupies minimum resources and squeezes out best performance from the OS, the effect is not obvious in PCSX2 but obviously more FPS in JPCSP. Well customize os is complicated guys can always simply buy i5 2500K to acquire more FPS in JPCSP. Smile

Removing features from Windows is for people with weak PCs or PCs that has not been under going maintenance for years.. Really all you need is a quadcore CPU, 4GB of ram, a decent GPU e.g., GTX 560 Ti, and 1 or 2TB of hdd. If you have met those requirements, then you will get superb system performance, and there's no need to tweak your OS beside the occasional defragmentation.

My current system overall performance is very snappy and it feels like owning a Core i7 system in term of general computing. Clock-for-clock, a 2500k is about 17 percents faster than the Q9xxx series in pcsx2. In other words, a Q9550 clocked at 4GHz gets the same performance or fps as the 2500k at 3.5GHz. This 17 percents number can only be compared with my system specs. And of course, this is strictly speaking about emulation, specially pcsx2. Obviously, the Sandy Bridge CPUs excels at other areas or department such as video encoding and other media related that takes advantage of multi-threaded apps.

I used to play Super Robot Taisen Z Hakai-hen, titled 第2次スーパーロボット大戦Z破界篇 in Japanese,
play it until intermission after the 1st stage is cleared,
for really slow speed even OC my E7200 to 3.7 GHz and graphics bugs I gave up playing it back in JPCSP 2096.

I was bored but testing the game speed between a fully functional OS(I forget it's Windows XP or Windows 7) and the Windows 7 I shrinked by vLite and DISM,
the game is faster in the latter OS than in the former OS,
that is the fact I discovered.

durable PC since 2008
CPU : E7200 @ 2.53 GHz 1.04 V / OC 3.7 GHz 1.36 V (390*9.5, 4GB DDR2 780)
GPU : 8600GT (GDDR3, 256 MB) / OC (750 / 900)
BOARD : GA-EP31-DS3L (rev 1.0)
PSU : 300 W
OS : Windows 7 Home Basic x86

Isn't that may be attributed to different OS, different Java version, different JPCSP setting or different JPCSP version? or maybe your old OS has problem/virus/botnet.

Really, many variable.

The ONLY thing I remember might be different is different OS i.e. Windows XP and Windows 7.
But I don't think JPCSP game speed differs between Windows XP and Windows 7.

Who knows? different driver matters a lot with JPCSP, some people even report they notice difference between driver version.
