Phenom is much better, I bet a phenom II clocked 3 GHZ would be better then a bulldozer at 3.7 GHZ

Nononononononono nonononono no no no nope nuh uh not true.


Bulldozer isn't as hot as phenom II in single threading, but it's definitely not 20%+ slower and you should definitely not be downgrading to a phenom processor over it. In fact, in most tests it's less than 10% (still very disappointing...)


Bulldozer is a great overclocking architecture however... so that should be your goal. If you want an immediate upgrade, Piledriver is definitely better but really you're just better off waiting another 6 months for the next line to start showing up.

Piledriver > Phenom II. Don't believe the lies that somehow PII annihilates the FX series, lol. Phenom II would win in some single-threaded cases but overall, Piledriver can OC a lot better than PII can and thus, you get better performance in the long run. Zambezi was pretty flawed. Going to a PII/Athlon II would be a downgrade, might as well upgrade to an FX-6300.
