Just a couple of resolution questions

Does it effect performance levels? My monitor's native resolution is only 1280x1024, so I shouldn't go over that or does it matter? Either way I try to maximize the window (since it won't go full screen).

Internal resolution doesn't determine the size of the actual window, just how sharp and clear all the textures and models are rendered.

Here's an example with "native" checkbox which uses the 512x448 in this game, then with 1024x1024 and 4096x4096. (first is 1024, second 512, third 4096)

In my case up to 2048x2048 I get the same speeds and only when i change to 4096x4096 it was too high for my card to handle so it slowed down to 6fps, so yes it can affect speed but only if you go too high, I usually set my games to 1536x1536 and it is enough quality and get no slowdown but in some games I have to lower it or I'll get bad results.

You can go higher than your monitor's resolution that will give it a antialiasing effect if you like it Tongue

yep, i only use 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 so that after the rendering no additional down/upscaling is needed.

wow, nice screenshots shadow lady. The difference between Native res and 4000x4000 is insane lol but seriously, wouldn't that make the game run really slow?

btw, does the higher resolution use more GPU or is it still mainly CPU?

Well yes, but it was just for the example and some cards can handle it fine I guess, also after 2048x2048 the difference in quality is not that big really... for example in that same part I could run it with 4096x2048 with no slowdown but other parts of the game will be slow, so it's just a matter of finding the right combination I use 1536x1536 because it's good enough quality for me and no game becomes really slow with it (in my card at least) Tongue

Considering my video card, what would you recommend, the 1920 by something?

With your videocard push it as high as you can. However some games have issues with the higher res but not the mid range res in games causing bugs so you'll need to test it.
