Hi there,

I was wondering whether anybody could help me with my lagging issues when playing PS2 games on my laptop.

Thank you,

  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.

@jesalvein I've attached all info you required off for me. Games I was trying to run were Medal Of Honour Frontline (ISO) and Colin Mcrae Rally 04 (CD).

your CPU is way too weak to play pcsx2.
You can still try some speedhacks, but don't expect miracles...

Better keep playing on your PS2 until you get a better machine...

@jesalvein I tried that before and the games were still running sluggish, I enabled speedhacks with increasing both the EE Cyclerate and VU Cycle Stealing to 3, and enabling fast CDVD, unfortunately my brother has got my old PS2, I'll try running running virtually on my other laptop using VMWare Workstation with an OS, PSX2 and MotionJoy after I have experimented with all possible settings in PSX2 on my old laptop, but thanks for helping me out though, really much appreciated.

There's your problem, in the "will pcsx2 run on my computer"- guide it says that it does not run on laptop. Even the good laptops dont run it properly.

Unfortunately, PS2 emulation needs some serious punch, processor wise, to get full
speed in you favourite games.
Your laptop seems to be too slow for it.

Running PCSX2 in VMWare will not work, not only are you dedicating limited hardware to a second OS, your going to use a hardware emulator to emulate hardware, doesn't make sense, and internally VMware won't use your GPU, just the integrated chipset, which is even more strain on your CPU... i know, i use VMWare to run mule accounts for an mmo i play. you can try adjusting your performance options, use the clasic theme (hit win key, right click "computer" properties, advanced system settings, performance button, disable Aero and whatever else, you won't get too much though) every little bit helps+^_^+

@tallbender I totally agree with you, however I don't really want to buy a PC as I already owe 2 laptops and want to get away from the era of PCs, no offense and thank you. Also I have only recently scrapped 4 old PCs that were ranging from 8 to 13 years of age.

@rama I totally agree with you too.

@Chik'Tikka Thanks for posting your experience of using PSX2 inside of VMWare to play mmo games, however I will try and experiment with your suggestions though.
