Looking for help, my processor is not supported?
#1
Hello there, i found this problem week ago.
I sold my ps2 year ago but i still own broken one wich bios I am using.
I started to miss my ps2 games.
Few days ago i seen my friend playing ps2 games on pcsx2.
Game was running very smoothly so i decided to download pcsx2 and try my games.
I used same settings as my friend and my fps was tragic.
My pc is almost same as my friend pc.
He have: Athlon 4200 + x2 overclocked to 2,8 GHZ, 2 GB RAM and 9600 GT.
I have: Athlon 3600 + x2 overclocked to 3 GHZ, 2 GB RAM and 9600 GT.
Differences in pc games in fps are like 2-4 fps so as i said is almost same.
In ps2 games with pcsx2 I am getting like 100 fps less than him.
So what the hell? My processor isn't supported by this emulator?
We have almost same pc, same windows, same tweaks, same emulator, same plugins, same settings, same drivers...
In dragon ball tenkaichi 3 he have stable 60 fps... i have 60 in menu and 30-10 in battle, even when i try another settings i always have damn 30 fps or less and screen is always flickering
( i see black screen and game, black screen and game... )
With speedhacks, without it, with advanced settings, without it, with gdsx or zero plugin always 30...
Same goes for suikoden 4... my friend have 60-50 fps.
I have 60 and in battle 20 or less, changing settings doesn't help at all... always 20.
I even tried my processor with his pc, zero effect.
I can't find solution for this problem so i am asking pcsx2 staff or users for help.
You're my only hope.

Bad luck perhaps? If you really sure it's your CPU then it is.
If you're aren't -> then something is not "the same as friend have".

Yes thanks but it doesn't help me...
I am pc specialist i can check it without any problems and everything is same.
It seems like this is a emu / plugin problem not my pc...
Eventually windows / drivers issue...

Quote:even tried my processor with his pc, zero effect.

Does that mean it ran at full speed or at 10-20 fps?

Post the PCSX2 settings, the GSDX settings and whether you're using XP or vista.

I mean it ran at 10-30 fps yes...
No problem I can post all settings but it doesn't matter becasue effects is always same depending on settings I am using.

Configure menu:
PCSX 2 Configuration
Graphic plugin settings:
Graphic plugin settings
CPU settings, I use 3 GHZ only for emulator, for normal usage 2,6 is enough:
CPU Settings
Speedhacks:
SpeedHacks

I can also post ingame screenshots with fps and graphic display if needed.
Thanks for your effort anyway.

I tried it doesn't help and in some games it just make performance much worse.
Can i contact emulator staff in any way? Or maybe they are at this forum?

Maybe it's because you have all of those programs running wjhen you play.
Never mind when I looked agian, it was just your quicklaunch bar.
Also it could be the version of pcsx2 that you are using, your friend could be using an updated version like playground or even a beta, while your using the beta 9.5

Dunno if it helps you, just in case. I had tested Pcsx2 on two processors with same harware and Pcsx2 settings:
1nd - AMD Athlon X2 4000+ Brisbane @2.1 overclocked to 2.66 GHz
2st - AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Winsdor @2.6 GHz ( not overclocked )

So, the second processor was faster on 5-6 fps then first.

For sure, make benchmark tests on both PC`s.

Not sure this will help you, But Try useing your Friends Playstation Bios.... My reasoning is Busted PS2 is Busted Ps2... When ixing a Car, If you salvage from a Broken down one, There's No garontee, But If you buy new, You can blame the mechanic, lol Just my thought....
"He who dies with the most toys, is still, None the less... Dead"
"Never argue with an Idiot, it causes confusion in who's who"
