MGS3 is running slow, why?
#1
Hi everyone! My question is: why MGS3 is running too slow on my computer?
I have: Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz
NVidia GTX 285 1Gb
8Gb RAM
The game is always running in slow motion and that's not cool.

Look at my PCSX2 configuration here:

Can you help me? Thx.

Perhaps, MGS3 is just a very demanding game. You should ask others who have played the game and see their results.

Try setting your EE Sync Hack to the Default Rate, leave all others the same. Does that improve anything?

EDIT: Also, if you're using MicroVU you should probably have your Clamp values set to None. You should however reconsider using MicroVU as it is currently still in development. I recommend unchecking "Use MicroVU" as well as disabling all speed-hacks related to MicroVU.

Thx for your help, now the game is running from 45FPS to 60FPS! I desactivated the clamp mode and all the thing related to the MicroVU. Any idea on how to get those few missing fps?

Check your PCs power options. I have a similar system and my power options were set to power saver causing the cpu to be cut in half and the game ran around 45-50 fps. Now I can get 120% constantly.

PS: I didn't use any speedhacks, as they don't seem to help with this game. Try turning it all off.

Try the ff:

CPU config:
Try set the Custom FPS Limit to = 64 .....,0=auto is likely not accurate
and set frames not lower than = 128.

Speed Hack:
and don't overhack the speed hack....
try X2 for EE, enable X2 EE/IOP and Cycle Stealing to Level 3(Moderate)

I did what both of you said and now the emulator keep telling me that i run the game constantly at 64FPS but that's false! I can see it from my eyes, what kind of bug is this?

False FPS usually stems from a sync issue in my experience. That's why I prefer to leave EE at Default instead of 1.5x or 2x.
