Making NFL 2k5 recognize a virtual HDD
#1
Goal: to enable video replays during halftime shows. IRL this requires the official addon HDD in a fat PS2

I'm running PCSX2 v1.4.0
MegaDev9 plugin v1.0.1
PS2 bios USA v01.60 SCPH-39001_BIOS_V7_USA_160

I open MegaDev9 config, select 8GB
when I start PCSX2 it creates the HDD image for about 10 minutes.
I can see that an 8GB file was created "dev9hdd.raw"
Once finished PCSX2 launches.
I know that it needs to be formatted, so I  run ELF - HDLoader.ELF

HDloader recognizes the HDD... 8GB.. it's there

It's still not recognized in-game or in the PS2 browser
I need it to think I have the official PS2 HDD
Now what...? I'm stuck

Pretty sure that's not gonna work... This game requires the HDD connected through dev9, not usb storage.

This one almost works with FFXI, so it may work with NFL too.

I tested it and it works for me but for some reason game detects only 128mb free and it asks to free further 896mb atleast before HDD can be used.

You tested it with ESPN NFL 2k5 ?

I'm sure that it's the SCE security command that is holding things up.
The PS2 knows it's not a genuine Sony HDD and won't let the game use it.
From what I read, neither of the two dev9 plugin coders had figured that part out. Wacko

Seems like I lost my NFL 2K5 disc but I tried NHL and NBA games which also use HDD features and the HDD is being detected there. Only problem is it shows only 128MB as free space. Try following these steps:-

1. Select CLR dev9 plugin and let it make dev9hdd.raw file
2. Run ulaunchelf, go to MISC section. Execute HDD Manager and format the HDD.
3. Run the game and check if it still remains undetected.

Okay, I'm stuck on the run ulaunchelf part.... I downloaded uLE v4.42b. I see a file called BOOT.ELF, try to run elf and I just get a black screen.

how exactly do I run ulaunchelf?

EDIT: nevermind, I figured it out. I downloaded a uLE iso v4.12 and used that
