Midnight Club: Street Racing

I cannot seem to get this game to be playable (as listed in the compatibility list) in PCSX2 0.9.7 r3878. I can get it to run slowly (though I haven't changed much..was just seeing if it works at all) in 0.9.6, however.

None of the videos work (but can be passed by using the skipping hack). I can get to the menu where I can set up a profile, and choose to start a new career or do some Arcade action. However, once trying to actually start a game, the screen stays black.

In 0.9.6 it shows the loading screen, then goes into the game for play. 0.9.7 does neither.

Anybody able to run this in the beta release? Any tips for getting this to work?

System Specs:
ATI Radeon HD 3890 512mb
AMD Phenom Quad-Core BE
4gb 1066 Memory
1.5tb HDD space
On-board RealTek audio

PCSX Info:
Newest release - PCSX2 0.9.7.3876m
All settings are at default - no hacks, fixes, etc (though I've used the mpeg fix to skip videos for this game)
Audio Plugin : SPU2-X r3702m 1.4.0
Graphics Plugin: Gsdx 3693 - Using Direct3D 10

Some additional info that might help:

The first line is while it's skipping movies, it seems. The rest of the lines happen while it should be loading the stage.

Everything is default. Is there something specific you need to know?

Emulation Settings:
EE/IOP Tab
EE = Recompiler / IOP = Recompiler
EE/FPU Advanced:
Round Mode = Chop/Zero
Clamping = Normal
Flush to Zero/Denormals are Zero = Both are checked

VUs Tab
VU0 = microVU / VU1 = microVU
VU0/1 Advanced:
Round Mode = Chop/Zero
Clamping = Normal
Flush to Zero/Denormals are Zero = Both are checked

GS Tab
Disable Framelimiting = NOT checked
Frame Skipping = Disabled
Use Synchronized MTGS/Disable all GS ouput = Neither are checked

GS Window Tab
Aspect Ratio: Fit to Window/Screen
Window Size = 1107x785 (weird number..I just resize the window as I see fit while playing)
Only thing checked is "Hide window on suspend"

Speedhacks Tab
Nothing checked.

Gamefixes Tab
Only thing enabled is Skip MPEG Hack

Plugin Settings:
GS = GSdx 3693 (MSCV 15.00 SSE2) 0.1.16
Renderer: Direct 3D10 (Hardware)
Interlacing: None
D3D internal res: 1024x1024
Or use Scaling: 1x (Use D3D internal)
Or use original PS2 res: Native NOT checked
Texture Filtering is blue - Logarithmiz Z and Alpha Correction are checked but grayed
Allot 8-bit NOT checked
Software Mode is grayed out for obvious reasons
Hacks: Blank

Anything beyond this is completely default. The only thing I've changed in any of the plugins is from DX9 to DX10 in GS (not counting setting my buttons for PAD1).

PAD = LilyPad svn (r3878) 0.10.0
SPU2 = SPU2-X r3702m 1.4.0
CDVD = cdvdGigaherz (r3428 0.8.0)
USB = USBnull Driver 0.7.0
FW = FWnull Driver 0.6.0
DEV9 = DEV9null Driver 0.5.0

If you check that list, that game was last tested with 0.9.6 and not 0.9.7 as you say, just play it with 0.9.6 or try some of the gamefixes I guess.

VU0 = microVU / VU1 = microVU

Try using Super VU instead of mVU. Also, I think I recall a game that got better compatibility (beyond just speed) when using some speedhacks, so try to enable the recommended ones and also set EE and VU stealing to 1 click from the left.

Still no dice. Will try the rest later.
