Minor FFX graphics glitch.

Howdy, I've just gotten the emulator to work and it runs at a nice, smooth 60fps but I'm having a problem with battle scenes.

The problem occurs either at the start of a battle scene or when an effect flashes on the screen such as that when an ability sphere is used. The latter usually clears up when I change interlace modes but battle scenes do not.

The text becomes pixelated and almost impossible to decipher, pics below.

Any help would be appreciated.

I like your choice of word (decipher), it really fits the problem with the text Tongue

What version of PCSX2 are you using? If you're using 0.9.6 you might want to update to the latest public beta, as well as updating GSdx (if that's what you're using).

Beta PCSX2 + Beta plugins: http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-3716.html
GSdx: http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-3031.html
Don't forget to follow the instructions!

Thanks, I'm using 0.9.6 and ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.97.1. I'll try your beta suggestion now.

This... is really weird... Did you delete the original thread?

Here's my reply I wrote in the (now vanished) first thread.

I'm really confused right now... Wacko

ADD: Ignore this, I had changed the forum in Threaded Mode (wanted to try it out), and as such posts magically disappeared Wacko
Are you on Linux? Otherwise GSdx is better if you're on Windows.

What the?

Can you post your PC specs and screenshots of your configuration?
Also, use ZZogl instead of Kosmos: http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-4108.html

AMD Phenom x4 black edition 2.6 GHz quad-core processor.
ASUS M3N78 - PRO MB.
-Nvidia G-force 8600 in-built.
4 GB ddr2 ram.
XP professional SP3.

I went back to 0.9.7 seeing as the beta. . . Well. . . Killed it.

Also, I couldn't figure out the download link on that page. . . For some reason.

You mean 0.9.6 Tongue

But use GSdx instead of any OpenGL plugin. GSdx is both faster than ZeroGS and ZZogl on Windows and uses DirectX instead of OpenGL. And it has less graphical glitches than the others.

I tried GSdx when I first installed the emulator, but for some reason it wouldn't recognize my DirectX plug-in and told me to update it. . . From the latest version to the latest version. Glare

It's not so bad a problem that I can't live with it, but it is somewhat annoying.

That latest screen looks like it could be fixed by enabling Logarithmic Z on the latest GSdx plugin.
