Movie Recommendations
I'm in Hong Kong right now and have a ton of movies I brought from home (bought them in China, high-quality DVDs are dirt cheap. I'll have a huge collection of movies by the time I get home). I'll watch some while I'm here. Which one of these are worth watching? The rest I'll watch later with my friend back at home in Suzhou. Here's the ones I haven't seen :

> The Matrix Reloaded (seen the third, trying to get my hands on the first) [Did you know that this movie has the longest credits ever?]
> Prometheus
> Full Metal Jacket
> True Grit
> Forrest Gump
> Green Lantern
> Abduction
> Easy Money
> The Fifth Execution
> The Terminator (I've seen 2 - 4)
> Underworld Awakening
> The Last Airbender
> I Am Number Four
> The Hurt Locker

So, what should I watch right away? I heard Full Metal Jacket is amazing, but I might wanna see it with my friend instead Tongue

RE: Movie Recommendations
None of them are legal, of course.

China has pretty much no legal games or movies. Everything is copied. Consoles are all chipped. In fact, many software and console developers simply don't do business with China because of that and hackers. China doesn't bother enforcing IP laws. Many online games refuse to allow connections from China since most hacking attempts come from this region. Point is that I'm in the freakin' hub of illegal software and anything that would be considered contraband in the states. Copied brands, bags, DVDs and BluRay, clothes, electronics, anything really. Though getting the real thing in physical objects is possible, getting real software is near impossible.

Still, the DVDs are good quality and dirt cheap, so I'm getting them all here and then taking them back to the states when I go back for good. Means I'll have worked around some thousands of bucks in DVD costs (they're ridiculously overpriced normally).

"You want real PC games and movies? Sorry, China Meiyou!".

No seriously, they're just not here. I can get hold on a few real console games, but they're all imported from Japan. Sucks for XBox since NTSC-J Usually isn't supported on NTSC Xbox because the 360 is sensitive to region, so getting PS3 versions is necessary because PS3 is very international console (universal electrical adapter and no region lock. Other systems are region locked and only work on their native country's electricity). We use an INDUSTRIAL transformer to change the local 220 volts to the American 110 volts, but we cannot change the cycles (here it's 50Hz, while in the US it's 60Hz) but it doesn't seem to affect my electronics.

wow soo its also like here in the Philippines you can buy high quality DVDs be it games, movies or application's (downloaded one's of course) in the streets not in the mall or store, and yes there are so many hackers in china that's the reason why other private servers hate chinese people ^...,^

How are you doing with the Mandarin? I been learning off the internet for fun the past year sort of on and off. Know enough to be a good tourist but still very basic.

To be honest though if I lived in China the last thing I think the state would worry about would be my movie collection =P

RE: Movie Recommendations
I heard that Green Lantern and Prometheus outright suck, and that that Matrix 2 and 3 are disliked by the Matrix fanbase :/ like one was the only one that was good.

Underworld lovers tell me that the fourth was the worst.

Wode putonghua shi henhao! Laugh except I can't use actual characters Sad just pinyin.
