Multi package cpu systems
I was wondering
Could a dell poweredge 1800 server with 6gb of ram and a nvidia ion graphics card run PCSX2 well. I saw the post saying what works and does not but i was wondering if two Physical cup's makes a difference they both run at 3.60ghz each

RE: Multi package cpu systems
those machines are optimized as servers, you'd get better with a good gaming desktop expending less money (presuming you are going to buy one, if already have, just try).

To PCSX2 it brings no advantages.

RE: Multi package cpu systems
Assuming the CPU's are single-core, then yes, you'll see some improvements over just running one CPU. Assuming the CPU's have two or more cores, then nope, wouldn't make a difference.

If it is still single-core, though, the underlying tech must be pretty old and thus, probably can't compare to even modern entry-level dual-cores.

Those are P4 based Xeons so its equivalent to a Pentium-D 3.6GHZ.
