My 24 hour testing experience with 0.9.8
#1
First of all , thanks for all the hardwork for creating this new version , this gives me the opportunity to test out my PC limitations
when it comes to emulation

I'd like to point out some of the improvements I've personally encountered within a 24 hour test run using my crappy PC

First the progress so far
1. The Graphics in Haunting Grounds is now perfectly emulated compared to 0.9.7 version 3878 using software interlacing but it's still a bit slow
the hardware interlacing is still the same though some parts are still blurry
2. Front Mission 4 is now playable again without skipping the first cinematics before the first mission , some users encounters hang ups on that certain point in 0.9.7 as I recall
3. Super Robot Taisen Z is now 10 fps more faster without using speedhacks, in my case, before at maps I only get 35 fps in 0.9.7 now it's 45 to 55 fps
4. Final Fantasy XII is almost at full speed even on my crappy PC in Hardware interlacing
5. And here's the list of games I've tested using 0.9.8 within a day Note : I've tried every possible way to boost speed and this is the final results I got

Games that still doesn't play yet

and as for the emulator's new features I've noticed some missing elements even though I installed it like usual

1. *Solved* Program Log always dispays this message - (GameDB) Database Not Found! Game index.dbf ( Ignore this it's solved please refer to this thread for a possible solution )
2. For some reasons Automatic Game Fixes does not work in all games that has issues , sometimes you'll have to manually tick the game fixes in the
emulation setting don't rely too much on it to do all the work for you. And seems like some games slowed down a bit compared to 0.9.7 version 3878 without help the of speedhacks
3. Another one of the problems I encountered from 0.9.7 3878 up to the current version, when I play Capcom vs SNK 2 and when I hit soft reset in the game , the exit function of the emulator, the save states and the load state function does,nt work I have to hit suspend and then resume to make it work again

4. And lastly I like those new features like the "presets" and in the memory card manager that customizes card sizes, it just keeps getting better , keep up the good work

I can't guarantee this but your dead or alive 2 might boot, but it needs ee in interpreter and ee cache enabled while on loading parts

"(GameDB) Database Not Found! Game index.dbf" means the automatic game fixes don't work (since that's the file that, among other things, defines them.

Can you please check if the file "GameIndex.dbf" exists at the same folder as pcsx2.exe?

Yes it exists along inside the pcsx2 folder where I've installed the emulator,
but strangely , the automatic game fix doesn't work

Do you run pcsx2 with some command line arguments? did you use an installer? or the 7z archive? Also worth trying is to clear all pcsx2 settings (the config menu) and see if it makes a difference.

Also, if you're using an installed pcsx2, you can try to download and use the 7z archive. It creates a portable folder with 100% independent configuration (doesn't get mixed with the installed pcsx2), so you can try it with clean settings.

Nope, I didn,t do anything at all , I don't know anything about this command line arguments thingy, I just installed it like I always do every time a new release is out, I just create another folder beside the default installation on program files, and installed the emulator there , but the funny thing is , there's another existing folder of PCSX2 in my My Documents even though I did,nt installed it there , by default the logs , save states, snaps and memory cards are automatically directed to that folder even though I installed it to a different folder directory, I have to customize the pathway of the files to my customized folder in order for those functions to be recognized by my customized pcsx2 folder, but I'll try what you said and see if there's any difference, thanks a lot

Good work keeping a trace of improvements/worsening in the new version. Still the results are on accord with the hardware power. 3D games will have a hard time with integrated video cards, that's something no software can solve. The CPU is not enough to run software mode with the desired speed too, so the chances of getting some games near full speed is not something to be expected now and probably will never happen.

Still, your work is useful to provide guidance to games with chances to run nicely in slight more powerful machines without abusing the hacks and to point those which probably will be a pain to get at least near playable experience.

Wow, dude. I thought I owned a lot of games. lol

Very nice, though. I would like to say that I see some games that would play way better if you were using a decent graphics card. It is cool to see what games really benefit from a dedicated GPU. I'm guessing you went with software mode with some of the games, since it was faster than hardware mode, right?
