well if you want to have good speeds you just need a 2 core cpu from 2.8 to 3.2/3.4 ghz the more the better for almost any game that can be emulated properly. and well maybe a better gpu from that for some graphic hungry ones but most will be ok on native resolution.

also a desktop pc is better and cheaper with the same hardware (or better)

notebooks are not recommended you see...
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.

ok, does all game require highs specs to get decent fps, or some are more demanding and other aren't?

edit:

how many fps is playable?
#13
50 fps for pal games and 60 for ntsc games.

each game needs different resources, some can run even in 200 fps while others not even 20.

Yes, I know ideally desktop components will be cheaper. But I'm purchasing a notebook for grad-school, and would like to know if I can run PCSX2 on it. Would you say the i5-520m would be enough? Cuz the i5's run differently(better) than the older c2d's dont they? Or would I still need a higher clock ?

i am going to purchase core 2 duo can it work with full speed?

depends on what you will buy....

i suggest buying something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product

and overclock it to 3.4-3.6 and that will be enough for everything.

after that you must buy a new gpu. probably a gts 250 or something similar in performance, if you buy those 2 yes you can play almost every game that is actually playable (there are lots of them)
