Need Help With Gran Turismo 4

Question
Hi all. I'm new here and a new user of PCSX2 and I really need some help. I got PCSX2 set up according to the configuration guide on this forum. I got GT-4 running, but is running slow and it crashes a lot.

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 fully updated with the latest DX 9.0c. My CPU is an Intel Celeron 420 Conroe-L 1.6GHz on an ASUS P5W DH DELUXE motherboard and an nVidia 8800GTS 320 video card.

Is there any way to get this game running properly with my setup?

A quick search would have given you this (and dozens other threads about it)

Where do I find this? "To fix the crashes at the beginning of the races versus IA, go to screen options and activate the 480p progressive mode in Video output."

It's only available to the NTSC version of the game (which you would know if you read the thread)

I would forget it, You'll never get GT4 running well on the PC.
Intel E7500 @ 4.00ghz 400 fsb / Asus P5QL Pro / 4Gb Kingston RAM / PNY nvidia 9800GT 512Mb / Creative X-Fi Music 24 / Vista 64 SP2/

Is it my CPU or GPU?

CPU.
Your GPU is getting on now, it's the original G80 GPU, but that should be ok for native resolutions.
You board is old, 975 chipset, but with the very latest BIOS update you should be ok with most of the Core2Duos or the Core2Quads.

If you want to bring it more up to date without spending a fortune, get yourself a E7400/7500/8400 dual-core CPU, update to 4Gb RAM, and get a decent cooler, don't need to spend much, something like a Akasa 965, Scythe Mini Ninja, Akasa 920 Evo.

For example, a E7500, Akasa 965, 2Gb RAM 800mhz, you're looking at around £130, or 140 euro, or $207, roughly.
