Need advice for this config
#1
Hello,

I must soon to change my PC portable. What's your opinions for this computer :
DELL Studio XPS 8300
process: Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB)
system: Win7 64bits
ram: 8Go
graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 6770 1Go

I hope run in good quality Xenosaga Episode III with this. Because i have few problems for the battles with Boss or Special Attack Character, fall FPS in menus (25/30 fps) on a other PC.

Thanks advance...

Really ?

Other question, do you think that should I choose a better graphic card for more results or it will be useless in terms of gain?

Xenosaga Episode III is VERY demanding but i think you are going to have full speed

@xHackell :

I7 2600 cant be OC it is locked
only I5 2500K and I7 2600K can be OC

a better GPU will be overkill for PCSX2
this one will perform nice

ok...

on the Dell store inline, he offers between :
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1.25GB GDDR5
- AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB DDR5 Graphics Card
- AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB DDR5 Graphics Card
(defaut Radeon HD 6770)

I should may be wait again to have a best config for a same price... and PCXS2 will still improve its accounting by updates.

I believe the best one between those is AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB DDR5 Graphics Card
but as i said this will perform nice you don't need a better one unless you need it with other program

not gonna get fullspeed unless using speedhack.

and i5 / i7 on K series can be OC'ed, if you use P67 or Z68 board.
but it limited to adding 4 cpu bin into turbo boost.

when at stock, 2600 can get turbo boost clock of 3.4 GHz with 4 core, 3.5 on 3, 3.6 on 2 and max at 3.7 on 1 core
when activate intel limited OC scheme. it can get 3.8 GHz turbo on 4 core, 3.9 on 3, 4.0 on 2 and 4.1 on single core.

@OP
there's no info on dell's page about its mobo chip. you should ask them about it.

as far as i know any FSP OC will cause a Sandy Bridge CPU to become unstable

FSP OC ?
did you mean FSB/BCLK ?

you don't have to raise BCLK. you can add an extra 4 multiplier to locked SB's turbo ratio, as long as it has turbo boost (so no extra clock for i3) and use P67 and Z68 board. this is intel's limited OC scheme for locked sandy bridge

and about BCLK, more than 5 Mhz increase (average) and you'll risk every component inside your PC Laugh
