Need help for the best possible performance and visual quality on FF12

Specs are:

Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz
Abit IP35-E
8GB DDR2-800
GTX285 1GB
X-Fi Extreme Music
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1

Currently this is my config     aside from the gamepad configuration i didnt change anything else.

I tried to use 4096x4096 but i get like 10fps on in-game cutscenes.

Just use a lower internal res, something like 2048x2048 would look very good while still having good speeds for most games.

Try to use these:

1. use pcsx2 svn 1443 - VU Cycle Stealing works better at max.
2. use Gsdx 1426m from ZEROx *removed*
3. CPU - EERec ON, VU0rec ON, VU1rec ON, MTGS ON, Normal
4. Speed Hacks - EE x2 Cycle Rate, INTC ON, IOPx2 ON, Idle Loop Fast-Forward ON, Status Flag Hack ON, VU Cycle Stealing - at max.
5. Advanced - EE Positive, None, FtZ, DaZ, VU Positive, None, FtZ, DaZ
my finger stocked on the trigger...

1. just use the latest official beta pack of pcsx2 and plugins from this forum. the op will not need any speed hack at maximum with her/his system, most likely the games will just get unstable or glitchy with that.
2. you'll get no support for hacked/modified plugins here. use only the official sources to download pcsx2 and plugins.
3. default cpu options are ok, unless a specific game needs other settings
4. total speed hack overkill, even sotc should run quite fine on the op's system with ONLY vu cycle stealing at slight or moderate. such aggressive speed hack settings WILL lead to slowdowns, choppy sound/gameplay and glitches/crashes.
5. like with the cpu settings, the defaults are ok for most of the games. search the forum for more info about your games and the specific advanced config they might need to run properly.

My PC specs are a little below (well my gfx card is quite a bit below) yours at:
Q6600 @ 3.2ghz (400*8)
4gig DDR2 @800mhz
8800GTS (g80 oc'd to 675 core/1566 shader/1020 memory)
PCSX2 beta 1474 with Gsdx 1479

I'm running FF12 at 100% speed 99% of the time at 1680x1050 with only a very rare audio hiccup during cutscenes. I've only run into one small problem with the ground and walls sometimes disappearing, but it's usually fixed quickly by switching to the map or license grid. I’m almost at the end of the game at 55 hours without any major problems. Here’s my config and a screen shot of how I usually play (dual screen).

Thanks for sharing your configuration, ill try to play the game with the default beta settings and see if it goes well.

Thanks for pointing me out to the latest beta, its noticable faster and uses far lesser CPU power too.. I noticed FF12 would consistently use 40-45% on my quad with the latest beta it barely takes up 30-35%

if you refer to the cpu usage in the pcsx2 title bar, that is just the cpu usage of the gs thread. a closer look at your core loads will reveal that the first core (responsible for the ee, vu, etc emulation) will usually be maxed all the time, but the second core (used for the gs thread) will show more or less the cpu usage you also see in the pcsx2 title bar. with just 30-35% you might consider increasing the internal res a bit more, or enable some msaa in the gsdx.ini for extra nice graphics Wink
