Need to update my DirectX? But i'm using DX10...
#1
Hi all,

firstly thanks a lot to the developers of PCSX2, been using since PCSX1 and it's been great.

1 - I'm using DX10 but when I open PCSX2 I get a notice that I need to update, then the link points me to DX9.0c. So do I need to update or downdate?

2 - I'm using a laptop with the following specs, getting about 20-30 fps for FFX. Is this as much as my pc can go, or can I do something about it? I was using 0.9.4 for this:

Core2Duo 2.26GHz
ATI Radeon HD3470 512mb
4GB DDR2 RAM
Vista Home Premium

Many thanks!

It's an auto-update. It will update everything automatically. All you need to do is download it and run it. It's that simple, so just do it.
Edit: Regarding #2
Try the latest PCSX2 9.6 and see if it goes faster.
Nappa: Vegeta! What does the scouter say about his power level?
Vegeta: It's...one thousand and six.
Nappa: Wh-...really?
Vegeta: Yeah! Beat him up Nappa!
Nappa: Yay!

update did the job, thanks. massive graphics boost from 0.9.4, looks a ton better, but still slow... hovering between 25-40fps Sad

I think it's time to go configuring. I spend more time doing that than playing actually hahaha

Use DX10 instead of DX9 and use native resolution, that should speed things up to near full. Also make sure your using the SSSE3 plugin or SSE4.1 if your cpu supports it.

wow thanks, it really sped things up quite a bit. by the way my native is 1280x800, but when i start it, it stays at a 512x416 window, is it normal? will alt+enter to fullscreen make any difference?

thanks!

that's just the native screen size of the game (and it'll always show that even if you set your own internal res, but gsdx will still use the one you set Tongue), and going into fullscreen won't change it (but it will obviously display it in fullscreen Tongue)
Windows 7 64bit
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 OC to 3.6GHz, Intel GMA x4500, 1GB DDR2
