Pcsx2 runs wonderfully for me. So it should run better for you. Although, I don't know why anyone would want 12 gig of ram. pfft. /end jealousy

Thank you all for this lovely feedback. Someone told me that increasing memory can help improve frame rates on games so I figured that 12 gig should be more than enough to ensure full speed on all games for pcsx 2.

RE: New computer coming
That is totally not true. PCSX2 will run at the same exact speed either you got 2 GB of RAM or 12.

Yes 2GB is become standar and good for 4Gb. I think is useless to spend much money for 16GB only for homework or single user.

RE: New computer coming
By the way i was thinking, what would be a better investment in CPU, would a Q9550 (2.8 ghz) be a better buy than a E8400(3ghz) and overclock them both to let's say 3.6ghz( not talking about i7 cause that requires new mobo, and memory Wink? From what i understand the goal is to make PCSX2 support more than 2 cores, and wouldn't a quad core give better performance in GSDXs software mode than a 2 core cpu? Just a thought Wink

Don't waste +$700 on i7 965 over the 920, all I'm gonna say. If you fall within the 95% of people, it won't overclock any higher stable without large voltage increases.
920 will hit 4.0ghz easy enough. 12GB is overkill btw, 3 (3x1gb for Tri-Channel DDR3) to 6gb (3x2gb for Tri-Channel DDR3) I would say is more than enough for almost everyone aside from people that use their pc as a studio of some sort audio/video editing/mixing or something similar.

----------

Chuuey, prices are only going to come down on the i7, if you dont have the cash buy the parts one at a time. Get a 920, decent motherboard (getting a highend $400+ is not necessary, most 920's are not going past ~4.0 easily without lots of voltage, so the BCLK(FSB) that the motherboard can do is not as relevant as it used to be back when FSB was everything (ie. ppl using 500+ FSB on some setups to hit certain frequencies) so get you a decent board, memory has came down A Lot since it was first introduced. Recommend getting a x58 ready kit (basically comes with 3 instead of 2 sticks of DDR3) can save a little that way. (Make sure to get the low voltage DDR3, there is a difference.) Also buy a decent air cooler as the stock will not cut it if you OC, i7s are notoriously hot. Would recommend the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 for a low-cost high performance cooler, for the price its ~pretty close~ to giving the most bang for the buck. Of course, if you want to lap the HSF(Heatsink)/IHS(CPU), use penny/washer mods for increased pressure, spend another +50 for a few C lower at load difference. Get the TRUE 120.

Ya the quad core is going to help if you ever need to use software mode, in the future if/when they add more threads it could help there as well.

RE: New computer coming
by the way how hard is it to attain a 1:1 dram:quickpath ratio on the i7s? I heard there's a big multiplier there Wink

Using the link Cody shown earlier, best explanation i've seen for relation between BCLK/QPI/UNCORE/MEM ratios.
