New to this. Many little questions.

Ignore the "resolution" at the emulation setting -> gs window dialog. It's just the window size. The generated PS2 output is just stretched/shrinked to this size, which also changes whenever you resizes the window.

The resolution which does matter is the one at GSdx config dialog (native/x2/3/etc)

Go to Config -> Emulation Settings -> GS Window

In Aspect Ratio drop list, pick Widescreen (16:9)

Only matters if you want to play in full screen though...

Ahhhhhhhh. Best thing to do in that case is run it at 2x native in fullscreen, giving me 1280x960.

Now that makes sense and solves my problem. Thank you.

Only question left to solve is the controller one now.

Ok, SVN version running. Set it to DX10 and got a performance boost. Why didn't I see that before.

I also turned on Anti-Aliasing. However, it doesn't seem to actually be working.

Linked below is a screenshot of the game at native x2, with AA at 4x.

Hmmmm...

Pumped it up to 16x for comparison purposes.

Didn't get the shot in the same place. But you can look at the Window on the left for comparison.

EDIT: and AA turned off, for completeness: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9519/0xaa.png

Just set scaling to x3 or higher to see vast visual quality difference (I presume you are using DX10 hardware renderer). AA is still experimental AFAIK

if this wasn't answered yet:

1: Don't use an xbox controller, LT and RT are ONE axis, it doesn't work properly

I THOUGHT I was running at 2x scaling (any higher and I will be higher than my native desktop resolution). Apparently I was not. Wonder when that happened.

Switching from native to 2x did give a large improvement, so I should be good for now.

Thanks, I will take a look at that.

That would only be a problem if I needed to hit both at the same time. I don't. I have no other PC capable controllers anyways. (only got DualShock 2's and Wiimotes.)

that's not true. It will register the axis strangely and it will present undesirable effects during gameplay.

There are only two games I want to play on this emulator. One uses the triggers to rotate the camera, and the other uses it to scroll rarely scrolled UI elements.

Take your pitchfork somewhere else.

I used an xbox controller for quite some time, but you'll learn the hard way I suppose.

My pitchfork is going right into the hay where it belongs
