New to this emulator, quick questions and concerns.

So as the title says, I haven't used this emulator before. I have a few questions about best performance, compatibility, ease of use, etc. So I'm familiar with Linux, (I use Ubuntu, although it's not on my new computer, I will be installing it once BF4 gets ported over to it or once I get bored of BF4 for a while, I already have the 14.04 disc made.) but my dad is not. I have heard that the Linux version is more up to date, is this true? If so, can the Windows and Linux versions connect to each other in LAN together? I haven't used my PS2 in years, and some of my first games I ever played are on it, so it has a lot of nostalgia with it. I recently remembered one of the first games I used to play on it, and I have an itch to play it again. It's the Socom: US navy seals series. My dad and me used to play it all the time, and it was really fun. I'm a PC guy now, so I'm not too used to the controller anymore, but my dad is, and he hasn't learned kb/m yet. I would like to play this game again, but I am not sure of the best approach to it. First off, I do not want to split screen, I will defiantly be using two different machines in two different rooms as we play. If I got that game and emulated it using this emulator, and I hooked up the old PS2 that I still have for my dad, could we both play on LAN together? In theory it should, but I am wondering if there is something I am missing, or something I am overlooking, etc. I also would like to know if there is a tutorial on how to use this, as I am not sure as to how hard this will be. Also, would the PS2 installer disc work for the emulator, or would I have to make any modifications to it (not going to do anything illegal, don't want to get banned from this forum)? Also, is this emulator setup by default for Keyboard and mouse, or for a controller? How would I switch it to a controller if it was for keyboard and mouse, and vice versa? I would really like to use the dual emulator option instead of a PS2 and a emulator, as my dad and I will be communicating via Google hangouts, so it would be another hassle to get audio comfortable that way. (In other words, a headset into one device is simpler.) Thanks for any help I receive.

I'm pretty sure my PC will work... 780 Ti... 4770k, etc.... Where are the tutorials? When I googled for them, all I got were people doing a horrible job on explaining how to open a file.

Well thank you for that, but some of my questions still are not answered. I am glad for that help, and I will continue to search out on my own, but I would appreciate it if someone could answer more of my questions. Thank you.

Right, about play online...Depend only if you found a living server yet to connect,to dificulty today in 2014 found yet servers for the old ps2 games to play on line.....but is true ps2 games on pcsx2 can be played on line.

About the controls pads, yes, you can play in gamepad, hotkeys, you have only to configure in the emulator in the option-Pad controls.

But will LAN work? I won't be using online servers, just LAN across my house. They still have support for that, right? Thanks again for the answers. I'm glad it has native controller support.

But do you need to do all that just for LAN? You're not really connecting to their servers or anything, so is there a need for that? I just really want to play this with my dad for some nostalgia. It seems pretty doable, I found a few more tutorials, but none of them are mentioning LAN connections at all. That is my biggest concern right now. Thank you for your help, I will look at that video.
