No good FPS without maxing speedhacks
#1
Hi, I've tried 6 or 7 games so far and cannot get any to run with correct FPS (50) without almost maxing out the speed hacks. This obviously causes unwanted graphical glitches. They are playable with the glitches but I would prefer no speed hacks used. I am using a Q8300 processor OC'ed to 2.98 GHz and a GTX 460 card. I have a Q9550 on the way that I hopefully will be able to OC to 3.4 GHz (depending on my temperamental motherboard). Will the few extra clock cycles help all that much or are low FPS to be expected without speed hacks? The games I have tried are God of War 1 + 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Soul Calibur 3, Tekken 5. I am running the latest Beta version of PCSX2.

Any help would be appreciated, and to the developers thanks for the emulator.

Yeah, a higher clockrate is usually the best way to get higher FPS. The 5 games you've mentioned are definitely one's that will take a higher clockrate to feel like they did on the PS2, especially with minimal Speedhacks (and glitches Smile).

Well I know it will increase FPS but will it that much? I am seeing 30-36 FPS without speed hacks currently. Do you think a Q9550 @ 3.4 would be able to boost it to close to 50 without speed hacks or would I have to go higher?

3.8 would be better.
but just give it a try.

I'll join Lezard on the fact that those games are ones of the most demanding, though..

not to brag..

but I have gotten GoW2 to run at near full on 2.2, without playing with speedhacks too much. don't use min/max you'll find it does slow the games down

If i ever have any troubles getting a game to run decently well i am coming to you saiki. Seems like you are able to run more demanding games on low end pcsx2 comps.

Sorry but what do you mean don't use min/max? I'm not familiar with those settings.

Post a video and I believe you, Gow2 is more demanding that GOW1, and GOW1 needs 3Ghz to reach at least 40fps without speed hacks, also 60 with them

well i believe him, if he uses native or very low resolution, no way its possible to run GOW 1 or GOW 2 at 1080p on 2.2 Ghz
